Six Winning Performances Take Centre Stage at Wolverhampton

Keeping the action rolling, Wolverhampton Racecourse staged a competitive six-race all-weather programme on Monday, 6 July, with racing getting underway at 6:30pm and concluding at 9:00pm. The evening card featured a balanced schedule of handicap contests alongside a fillies’ novice event, as six different jockeys partnered six different winners across an entertaining evening on the Tapeta surface.

Opening the programme, the Handicap Stakes (Class 6) was won by SOUTH SHORE, who produced a determined performance under Marco Ghiani. Trained by Robert Cowell for The Legendary Moore Syndicate, the winner completed the race in 1:00.91. SHE’S A GIFT finished runner-up, while BRAVE BOB completed the first three home.

Building on the competitive start, the Fillies’ Novice Stakes (Class 4) (GBB Race) went to ROXELINA, who impressed under David Egan. Trained by Kevin Philippart de Foy for Amo Racing Limited, the winner stopped the clock in 1:02.02. DELIGHFULLY HOT claimed second place, while ELPEEARE finished third.

Attention then turned to the Wolverhampton Holiday Inn Handicap Stakes (Class 5), where STYLE KING secured victory with Silvestre De Sousa in the saddle. Trained by Chris Dwyer for Strawberry Fields Stud, the winner recorded a time of 1:13.15. MOOSTAR finished second, while BABA REZA took third.

Later on the card, the Roy Grimwood Memorial Handicap Stakes (Class 5) was won by SUGGY, who produced a solid display under Jason Watson. Trained by Charles Hills for owner Mr D J M Rees, the winner completed the contest in 1:50.18. STELLA LUCENTE finished runner-up, while IF I COULD DREAM completed the first three home.

With the evening gathering momentum, the Name A Race Handicap Stakes (Class 6) went to MIDNIGHT MEDIA, who provided Lewis Edmunds with a well-deserved winning ride. Trained by William Muir & Chris Grassick for Muir Racing Partnership – Newbury, the winner recorded a time of 1:50.54. MANTON ROAD finished second, while STARAKOVA claimed third.

Bringing the meeting to a close, the Handicap Stakes (Class 5) was won by PRIMO LARA, who was partnered to victory by George Wood with a composed performance. Trained by Jack Morland for owners Rosier, Rosier, Macauliffe and Don, the winner stopped the clock in 2:01.09. BARRY’S BOY finished second, while GALAXY WONDER completed the placings.

The six-race programme delivered competitive racing throughout, with six different horses and six different jockeys combining to produce an entertaining evening of all-weather action at Wolverhampton Racecourse. George Wood’s closing success aboard Primo Lara provided a fitting finish to another competitive meeting on the Tapeta surface.
