A competitive afternoon of National Hunt racing will take centre stage at Uttoxeter Racecourse on Tuesday, 7 July, with a seven-race programme scheduled from 1:30pm until 4:30pm. The fixture will feature a balanced mix of novice hurdles, handicap steeple chases, handicap hurdles and a concluding National Hunt Flat contest. Prize money across the card will range from £4,500 to £10,700, providing opportunities for horses across a variety of classes and distances.
Uttoxeter Race Cards 7 July
The afternoon will get underway with the Novices’ Hurdle Race (Class 4) (GBB Race) at 1:30pm. The opening contest will be run over 1m 7f 168y, will carry £10,000 in prize money and will be open to horses aged four years and older. A field of 10 runners is expected, including Eternal Angel, Aimeric, Arcon, Happy Harrison, Ride Like A Girl, Dancingondiamonds and Mystic Wind, setting the tone for the afternoon’s programme.
The second contest on the card will be the Novices’ Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 4) (GBB Race) at 2:00pm. Run over 2m 4f, the race will offer £8,900 in prize money and will be restricted to horses aged four years and above. A field of eight runners is expected, featuring Gaelic Rambler, That’s Nice, Hudson, Jiair Madrik, Seeitoldya, Back In The Bay and The Clonmel Kid.
Attention will then switch to the Peter Smith Birthday Celebration Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 4) at 2:30pm. The staying contest will be staged over 3m 10y, will also be worth £8,900 and will be open to horses aged four years and older. Six runners are due to compete, with Karnaval Point, Ivane, Paper Mill, Fairlawn Flyer, Eaton Anne and A Dublin Job expected to line up.
Midway through the programme, the Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 3) will be staged at 3:00pm. Covering 2m 7f 70y, the race will carry the day’s highest prize fund of £10,700 and will be open to horses aged four years and above. A competitive field of 12 runners is expected, including Roger Pol, Sunray Shadow, Lipa K, Ernest Gray, Smugglers Haven, Champagne Twist and Stumps Or Slips.
The fifth race of the afternoon will feature the Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 5) at 3:30pm. The contest will be run over 1m 7f 168y, will offer £6,150 in prize money and will be open to horses aged three years and older. A field of 11 runners is expected, headed by Rocks Up Late, Jammy Jay, Iolaos du Mou, Network Rgb, Buxted Reel and Tara Iti.
The penultimate contest will see the Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 5) take place at 4:00pm. Run over 1m 7f 214y, the race will carry prize money of £6,150 and will be restricted to horses aged four years and above. Ten runners are expected to contest the event, including Alshadhian, Person of Interest, Electric Eddy, Most Wanted, Feet On The Ground, Royal Rhythm and Fond Farewell.
The seven-race programme will conclude with the Open National Hunt Flat Race (Class 5) at 4:30pm. The closing contest will be run over 1m 7f 168y, will offer £4,500 in prize money and will be restricted to four and five-year-old horses. A field of seven runners is expected, featuring Teleleo, Jaunty Trooper, Rob Farmer, Cavo Tagoo, Iwanttobreakfree, Zerouali and Naiad.
The Uttoxeter fixture will provide a varied afternoon of National Hunt racing, combining novice contests, competitive handicap hurdles, staying chases and a bumper.
