Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) continued the Bangalore Summer Meeting, 20th day, on Sunday, 5th July 2026, with the 2nd race, The R. R. Byramji Memorial Plate, a 1200-metre Maiden contest for three-year-old horses, held at 3:00 PM. AZAADI, partnered by Vivek G., produced a polished display to register a memorable first career victory for trainer P. S. Chouhan, stopping the clock at 1:12.77 while carrying the colours of Mr Atul Ishwardas Chordia, Mr Raj Ramprasad Singh, Mr Marthand Singh Mahindra, and Mrs Rina Mahindra.

Breaking smartly and settling into a comfortable rhythm, AZAADI travelled strongly throughout the early stages before quickening decisively in the straight. Vivek G. judged the pace perfectly, asking the colt for his effort at the ideal moment, and AZAADI responded with a sustained burst of speed to pull clear and secure a convincing first career success over the six-furlong trip.
APRAMEYA finished second after a determined effort under Neeraj Rawal for trainer Neelesh N. Rawal, crossing the line in 1:13.53. SHADAI, partnered by Akshay Kumar and trained by James McKeown, stayed on well to take third in 1:13.86, completing the placings in a competitive maiden contest.
With another exciting result added to the afternoon’s programme, attention now turns to The A.M.C. Gowda Memorial Trophy, scheduled for 3:30 PM, as the Bangalore Summer Meeting continues to gather momentum.
