One of the most anticipated race days of the Bangalore Summer Meeting 2026 is set to unfold on Sunday, July 12, when Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) stages its 22nd Day programme. At the heart of the afternoon is the prestigious Grade I Zavaray S. Poonawalla Bangalore Summer Derby, bringing together many of the country’s leading Classic hopefuls.

The Grade I Zavaray S. Poonawalla Bangalore Summer Derby will be run over approximately 2000 metres and is reserved for three-year-old Indian horses foaled in 2023. The historic Classic has attracted a quality group of emerging performers, with 17 horses remaining in contention after the latest stage of entries.
The current entries include ANGELISA (P. Shroff), APRAMEYA (Neelesh N. Rawal), ASTERION (Karthik Ganapathy), BULLETPROOF (S. S. Attaollahi), D’ARTAGNAN (P. Shroff), DIGITAL EMPRESS (Deshmukh L. V. R.), HAVOC (P. S. Chouhan), KNOTTY EMPEROR (Prasanna Kumar), MADANTE (Deshmukh L. V. R.), MARGARETTA (P. Shroff), MOONVEIL (S. S. Attaollahi), PEARL STAR (Prasanna Kumar), RISING KNIGHT (James McKeown), STUD POKER (Prasanna Kumar), SUPER SPLASH (Deshmukh L. V. R.), VORTEX (Shazaan Shah) and ZAYYAN (P. Shroff).
The entries reflect a strong mix of established racing yards and promising young horses. Trainer P. Shroff leads the representation with four contenders, while Deshmukh L. V. R., Prasanna Kumar and S. S. Attaollahi have multiple runners engaged for the Classic event.
APRAMEYA has been accepted as the second supplementary entry, adding further interest to the race. The final declarations and jockey bookings will be announced closer to the meeting, confirming the final field for one of the most awaited contests of the Bangalore Summer season.
The 22nd Day programme is expected to bring together competitive racing and some of the most promising three-year-olds in the country. While the final line-up will only be known after declarations, the current entries suggest another memorable renewal of the Bangalore Summer Derby.
