From the opening amateur riders’ hurdle to the concluding staying chase, racegoers enjoyed a varied programme that showcased stamina, determination and quality horsemanship.

The evening began with The Proper Job Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 4) over two miles and 167 yards. The contest went the way of Saint Polo (FR), who produced a polished display under Mr Jamie Neild. Travelling strongly throughout the race, Saint Polo moved smoothly into contention before asserting in the closing stages. The French-bred runner showed plenty of determination when challenged and held on comfortably to secure a well-deserved victory, giving connections an encouraging success in the opening event.

The demanding distance tested every runner’s stamina, but Final Entry proved equal to the challenge. Racing patiently in the early stages, the gelding gradually moved through the field before taking command in the latter part of the race. Once in front, Final Entry stayed on powerfully to secure victory, demonstrating remarkable endurance and determination.
