A competitive afternoon of racing unfolded at Mysore Race Club on Wednesday as the fourth day of the Mysore Summer Races 2026 produced several closely fought contests, highlighted by King’s Battalion’s authoritative success in the feature event, The Dr. N.M. Srinivas Memorial Trophy. The eight-race programme, conducted between 1:30 PM and 5:00 PM, showcased emerging talent, seasoned campaigners and a series of impressive performances across different classes.

The opening event, The Kaginele Plate, a 1400-metre maiden contest for Class V runners rated 0 to 25, produced one of the closest finishes of the day. Ankush, ridden by Salman Khan and trained by Bipin V. Salvi for owner Mr Sanjay Punamchand Kothari, narrowly prevailed in 1:25.565. Stablemate Trump Baby, partnered by Afsar Khan, finished a close second in 1:25.596, while Optimism, ridden by Arvind Kumar N for trainer Suraj Prasad Shaw, was just behind in third with a timing of 1:25.602.
The pace lifted in the second race, The Somwarpet Plate Division II, over 1100 metres for Class IV horses rated 20 to 45. Adena produced a polished sprinting performance under Faiz to score for trainer Feroz M. Khan and owner Mr Anil Viswanatha Poduval. Stopping the clock at 1:06.023, Adena finished comfortably ahead of Truth In Wine (Siddaraju P/K Aditya), while Elsa (M.S. Deora/B. Suresh) completed the frame.
Race three, The Takshashila Plate, over 1600 metres, saw Natural Diamond stamp his authority on the contest. Guided by Ankit Pal and trained by Mansoor Khan for owner Mr Raja Malhotra, the winner travelled strongly before drawing clear to score in 1:38.479. Bold Show, ridden by N. Darshan for trainer R. Ramanathan, chased home the winner, while Tigerking filled third under Vinod Shinde.
A smart performance followed in The Somwarpet Plate Division I, another 1100-metre Class IV event. Mystic Charm, representing trainer K.S. Mandanna and owner Mr M. Raghunath, delivered a sharp front-running display under Vinod Shinde. The winner clocked an excellent 1:04.876, finishing ahead of Mr Karnataka and Royal Chivalry, who occupied the minor placings.
The fifth race, The Loyal Prince Plate Division II, over 1200 metres for Class III horses rated 40 to 65, went the way of Malet Spring. B. Darshan Anthony produced a well-judged ride aboard the K. Aditya-trained runner, who carried the colours of Ms Kunal N. Sharma and Suchendra Bal Rajurs. The winner stopped the clock at 1:11.53, while Dufy and Suryakrishi followed home in second and third respectively.
The day’s centrepiece, The Dr. N.M. Srinivas Memorial Trophy, provided the standout performance of the meeting. Contested over 1400 metres for Class II runners rated 60 and above, the feature attracted a quality field and produced a worthy winner in King’s Battalion. Ridden with confidence by A. Ashhad Asbar, the H. Zulquarnain-trained gelding travelled strongly throughout before asserting his superiority in the closing stages. Racing in the colours of owner Mr Ujash Mahendra Patel, King’s Battalion crossed the line in an impressive 1:22.093.
Still I Rise, trained by Fahad Khan and ridden by Vishal, offered the strongest resistance but had to settle for second, while Loch Lomond finished third for trainer R. Ramanathan. The manner of victory marked King’s Battalion as one of the most notable performers seen at the meeting so far and provided the highlight of the afternoon.
The seventh event, The Loyal Prince Plate Division I, produced another competitive sprint. Flashing Famous, trained by J. Ganesh and ridden by Akash Agarwal, emerged best after a sustained challenge over the 1200-metre journey. Running for owner Mr Pradeep Kumar N, the winner recorded 1:11.84. Seolfor Bullet finished second under Abhishek Mhatre, while Sherpa took third for trainer Pillay J.S.
The card concluded with The Sutlej Plate, a 1600-metre Class III contest. Seeking Alpha, representing trainer M. Eshwer and owner Mr Srichand Suresh Singh, rounded off the afternoon in style under Darshan N. Producing a determined effort in the straight, Seeking Alpha held off Prince Corporate, ridden by Sah Farid Ansari, while Aurele completed the placings for trainer Feroz M. Khan.
