Sandown Park Set to Stage a Compelling Eight-Race Programme on Friday

The prestigious Sandown Park Racecourse will provide the setting for an eight-race afternoon fixture on Friday, 12 June, featuring contests for juveniles, three-year-olds and older performers across distances ranging from five furlongs to one mile and six furlongs. More than £89,000 in prize money will be on offer throughout the card, which will combine novice, maiden and handicap events across a varied programme.

Opening the programme, the Novice Stakes (Class 4) will be run at 1:08pm over 5f 10y for two-year-olds. The contest will attract 10 runners competing for a prize fund of £11,000. Courseyoudo, Gold Reef City, Henley On Thames, Igrok, Mysterious Times, Perigord Noir and Underdog will feature among the youngsters seeking an early career success.

Next on the card, the first division of the Handicap Stakes (Class 4) will take place at 1:38pm over 5f 10y. Open to horses aged four years and older, the sprint will carry £11,500 in prize money and will feature 10 runners. Twilight Calls, Tan Rapido, Cressida Wildes, Lipsink, Charlie Mason and Silver Wraith will be among the notable contenders.

Attention will then turn to the second division of the Handicap Stakes (Class 4) at 2:13pm. The 5f 10y event for 4YO+ runners will also offer £11,500 and will attract nine runners. Em Four, Nogo’s Dream, Marching Mac, Betties Bay, Cayman Tai and Carbine Harvester will headline the field.

The juvenile spotlight will return at 2:48pm when the Maiden Stakes (Class 3) will be contested over 7f. The race will be restricted to two-year-olds, will carry a purse of £13,000, and will feature seven runners. Encounter, Gymbaazy, Il Capo, Kaito, King’s Welcome and Pat’s Cash will be among those aiming to make a winning start.

Feature handicap honours will belong to the Class 3 Handicap Stakes scheduled for 3:23pm over 1m 1f 209y. The race will offer £15,000 in prize money and will attract the afternoon’s largest field with 17 runners aged four years and older. Al Aali, Boyfriend, Greek Order, Mustazeed, Noble Horizon and Sweet Reward will be among the principal names engaged.

The three-year-olds will then take centre stage in the Handicap Stakes (Class 4) at 3:58pm. Run over 1m 1f 209y, the contest will be worth £11,500 and will feature 13 runners. Bemersyde, Devil’s Peak, Qarreeb, Bridge of Eagles, Tambora and Plan C will be among the participants.

Later in the afternoon, the Class 5 Handicap Stakes will be run at 4:35pm over 7f for three-year-olds. The race will offer £8,500 in prize money and will attract 12 runners. Euphonia, Lohoobb, Dark Sovereign, Enamorus, Kilkenny Warrior and Kimbara will be among those set to line up.

Bringing the meeting to a close, the final Handicap Stakes (Class 5) will be staged at 5:08pm over 1m 6f. The staying contest will be open to three-year-olds, will offer £8,500, and will feature a compact field of five runners. King of Berkshire, Heroics, Wardlaw, Red Rifle and Fuzeyya will contest the concluding race of the day.

Friday’s fixture will provide a balanced programme featuring opportunities for both experienced handicappers and promising young horses. The opening juvenile contests will offer an early assessment of several developing prospects, while the handicaps later on the card will test depth and consistency across competitive fields. The 3:23pm Class 3 handicap will stand out as one of the strongest races of the afternoon owing to its sizeable field and superior prize fund.
