Yasuda Kinen Headlines Tokyo’s Prestigious 12-Race Sunday Programme

Tokyo Racecourse will stage one of its most important fixtures of the early summer season on Sunday, 7 June, when a 12-race programme worth more than 558 million yen in prize money will be presented. The card will feature races for two-year-olds, three-year-olds and older horses across distances ranging from 1300 metres to 2100 metres, while the Grade 1 Yasuda Kinen will serve as the centrepiece of the afternoon.

The meeting will begin with a pair of contests for three-year-olds. Race 1 at 10:05am will be run over 1400 metres for a purse of 11,050,000 yen, while Race 2 at 10:35am will test the same age group over 2100 metres with identical prize money. Together, the opening events will provide opportunities for lightly raced runners to continue their development and establish themselves at Tokyo Racecourse.

Attention will then shift to two mile races for three-year-olds. Race 3 at 11:05am and Race 4 at 11:35am will both be contested over 1600 metres, with each carrying prize money of 11,050,000 yen. These contests will offer an important examination of speed and stamina and will continue the competitive nature of the opening session.

Juveniles and Progressive Horses Will Feature Midway Through the Card

The focus will then move to a combination of juvenile and developing talent. Race 5 at 12:25pm will be an 1800-metre event for two-year-olds carrying prize money of 14,880,000 yen, providing an early platform for emerging youngsters to make an impression. Race 6 at 12:55pm will follow over 1300 metres for three-year-olds and will offer a purse of 11,050,000 yen.

The afternoon segment will begin with Race 7 at 1:25pm, a 1400-metre contest for three-year-olds and older horses worth 15,620,000 yen. Race 8 at 1:55pm will continue over 1600 metres under the same age conditions and for the same prize money. Both races will attract established performers seeking success at one of Japan’s premier racecourses.

Supporting Features Will Build Towards the Main Event

Among the supporting highlights will be Race 9 – The Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy, scheduled for 2:25pm. The 2000-metre contest for three-year-olds and upward will offer prize money of 30,330,000 yen and will provide a significant middle-distance challenge on the programme.

Race 10 – the Hachioji Tokubetsu, will follow at 3:00pm. Open to three-year-olds and older horses, the 1400-metre event will carry a purse of 30,670,000 yen and will act as an important lead-in to the feature race later in the afternoon.

Yasuda Kinen Will Command the Spotlight

The headline attraction will arrive in Race 11 – the Yasuda Kinen (G1), at 3:40pm. Run over 1600 metres for three-year-olds and older horses, the prestigious Grade 1 contest will offer an outstanding purse of 347,280,000 yen. Widely recognised as one of Japan’s premier mile races, the event will bring together elite performers and will stand as the most valuable race on the card.

The programme will conclude with Race 12 – the Koganei Tokubetsu, at 4:30pm. The 1600-metre contest for three-year-olds and upward will carry prize money of 30,600,000 yen and will bring the curtain down on a comprehensive day of racing at Tokyo.

With races spanning a variety of distances and age categories, alongside a world-class Grade 1 feature, Tokyo Racecourse will present a balanced and competitive programme from the opening contest through to the final race of the afternoon.

The Tokyo Race Cards 7 June meeting will feature 12 races, more than 558 million yen in prize money and the prestigious Yasuda Kinen (G1) as the headline attraction at Tokyo Racecourse.
