One of Britain’s most established Flat racing venues, Doncaster Racecourse will host a competitive seven-race evening programme on Friday, 5 June, featuring a blend of apprentice racing, novice contests and handicaps. More than £68,000 in prize money will be offered across the card, with races scheduled between 5:10pm and 8:40pm. The meeting will present opportunities for developing performers and experienced campaigners alike, while a varied range of distances will ensure a balanced programme from start to finish.

The action will commence with the Apprentice Handicap Stakes (Class 6) at 5:10pm. Run over 1m 3f 212y and carrying prize money of £7,200, the race is expected to attract seven runners. Animato, Sweet Kiss, Division Day, It’s Only Fun, The Ubermensch and Letmeseethecolts are among those due to line up. The staying trip will provide an early examination of stamina and tactical positioning around the South Yorkshire circuit.

At 5:45pm, attention will switch to the Restricted Novice Stakes (Class 4) over 1m 2f 58y. The £10,000 contest is expected to feature nine runners and will offer another important stepping stone for lightly raced horses. Harmonics, Cliff Danger, I Got Rhythm, Le Morbihan, My Mate Roger and Hawksworth headline the projected field in a race that should provide useful clues for the remainder of the season.

The Novice Stakes (Class 4) will follow at 6:20pm. Also worth £10,000, the one-mile contest is expected to attract seven runners. Seet, Electric Dreams, Forever Endless, Impierious, Master of Delphi and Ruler of Time are among the anticipated participants. Several runners will seek to build on previous performances as they continue their progression through the ranks.

A competitive Handicap Stakes (Class 4) will be staged at 6:55pm over 7f 6y. Worth £10,800, the race is set to bring together a field of 12 runners. Rogue Messiah, Sanaam, Thunder Call, Valpovo, King’s Trust and King’s Cavalry are among the leading names entered. The contest will add further depth to the card and should prove one of the most closely matched races of the evening.

The fifth race on the programme, another Handicap Stakes (Class 4), will take place at 7:30pm over 7f 213y. A prize fund of £10,800 will be available, while 13 runners are expected to go to post. Tilted Kilt, Talis Evolvere, Cavolo Nero, Rumba Numba, Cadarn and Miletus are among the notable entries. The extended seven-furlong distance will test both speed and stamina, creating an interesting challenge for the field.

One of the largest fields of the meeting will assemble for the Handicap Stakes (Class 4) at 8:05pm. The 6f 2y contest will be worth £10,800 and is expected to attract 15 runners. Misunderstood, Photosynthesis, Smart Vision, American Style, Novello Lad and Lord Bertie are among those scheduled to take part. With a sizeable field and a sprint distance, the race should provide a highly competitive feature during the latter stages of the programme.

The card will conclude with the Handicap Stakes (Class 5) at 8:40pm. Run over 1m 2f 58y for prize money of £8,400, the race is expected to feature ten runners. Battosai, Domination, Faeberon, Dryburgh, Aerial Silk and Turtle Reef are among the entrants set to contest the closing event. The middle-distance handicap will bring the evening fixture to its conclusion and round off a varied programme of racing.

The Doncaster fixture will offer a healthy blend of novice races, apprentice competition and handicaps across a range of distances. Strong field sizes throughout the evening will contribute to the competitiveness of the card, while races from six furlongs to nearly one mile and four furlongs will provide opportunities for different types of performers.
