Windsor Racecourse hosts an attractive eight-race flat programme on Monday, June 1, with a mix of sprint handicaps, novice contests and middle-distance races providing plenty of interest throughout the evening. More than ÂŁ79,000 in prize money is on offer, with the feature event being the ÂŁ20,000 Fitzdares Sprint Series Handicap Stakes at 7:15 PM.

The action begins at 5:05 PM with The Fenchurch Insurance Brokers Handicap Stakes (Class 4) over 5 furlongs and 21 yards. Open to horses rated between 66 and 85, the contest offers £10,800 in prize money and is expected to produce a fast and competitive start to the meeting. Windsor’s sprint track often rewards horses capable of travelling strongly before producing a decisive finish in the closing stages.

At 5:40 PM, attention turns to the younger generation in the first division of The Pourou Garhigh Anniversary EBF Restricted Novice Stakes (Class 5). Restricted to two-year-olds, the race offers ÂŁ8,000 and forms part of the EBF Restricted Race Qualifier series. These early-season juvenile contests frequently provide the first glimpse of promising youngsters who could develop into useful performers later in the campaign.

The second division follows at 6:15 PM, giving another group of two-year-olds an opportunity to gain valuable racecourse experience. With many runners still learning their trade, both novice events are likely to offer plenty of clues for the months ahead.

The fourth race on the card is The Ravens Roofing Supplies Fillies’ Novice Stakes (Class 4) at 6:45 PM. Run over 6 furlongs and 12 yards, the contest carries a prize fund of £10,000 and is open to fillies aged three years and older. Several lightly raced runners are expected to be on show as connections seek to build experience and confidence before stepping up in class during the summer.

The highlight of the evening arrives at 7:15 PM with The Fitzdares Sprint Series Handicap Stakes (Class 3), a valuable ÂŁ20,000 contest over 6 furlongs and 12 yards for three-year-olds rated between 76 and 95.

Leading the weights is Jel Pepper, trained by Oliver Cole and partnered by Daniel Muscutt. The gelding boasts a rating of 97 and has already shown useful sprinting ability. Andrew Balding’s Comical Point, ridden by Jason Watson, arrives in consistent form after recording consecutive placed efforts and could once again be involved at the finish.

Ralph Beckett’s Egoli is another notable contender. The gelding won twice last season and returns after a recent outing, while Robert Cowell’s Atticum remains relatively unexposed and could have further improvement to come.

The field also includes Nuevo Slovo for Simon Pearce, Sayidah Hard Spun from Richard Hughes’ stable, and Amorim, a previous course-and-distance winner representing George Boughey. Richard Hannon’s The Untamed arrives on a hat-trick after winning his last two starts and looks one of the progressive runners in the line-up.

Others to note include River Spey, trained by Ed Walker, Mo Of Cairo for Kevin Ryan and the lightly raced filly Lara Antipova, who has won two of her three starts and could have more improvement in reserve for trainer Tom Clover.

With a blend of established handicap performers and progressive young sprinters, the Fitzdares Sprint Series Handicap looks set to be the standout race of the meeting and one of the most competitive three-year-old sprint contests staged at Windsor this season.

The evening continues at 7:45 PM with The Don & Low Champions Cup 2026 Handicap Stakes (Class 6) over 1 mile, 3 furlongs and 116 yards. Open to horses rated between 46 and 55, the race provides an opportunity for staying performers to showcase their stamina around Windsor’s turning circuit.

At 8:15 PM, three-year-olds take centre stage in The Marley Solar Roof System “Confined” Handicap Stakes (Class 6) over 1 mile and 2 furlongs. Restricted to horses that have not won more than one race, the contest offers developing runners the chance to continue their progression against similarly experienced opposition.

The card concludes at 8:45 PM with The Skyline Roofing Centers Handicap Stakes (Class 5). Run over 1 mile and 2 furlongs and carrying prize money of £8,400, the race brings together horses rated between 51 and 70. As is often the case with Windsor’s closing handicap, a competitive finish is expected as runners seek to end the evening on a winning note.

Windsor remains one of Britain’s most picturesque racecourses, situated alongside the River Thames and renowned for its popular summer evening fixtures. Monday’s programme combines promising juveniles, improving handicappers and established performers, ensuring an entertaining evening of flat racing for participants and spectators alike.
