Bowen and Skelton Secure Doubles During Worcester Programme

Set against the picturesque riverside surroundings of Worcester Racecourse, the established National Hunt venue staged a competitive six-race programme on Thursday, 28 May, featuring several notable performances from leading trainers and jockeys. The evening fixture attracted competitive fields across both hurdle and steeple chase contests, while a combination of experienced campaigners and progressive runners ensured an eventful card throughout the meeting.

Harry Skelton and Sean Bowen both secured riding doubles during the programme, while trainers Dan Skelton, Olly Murphy, Alex Hales, and David Pipe all recorded victories on a card that delivered a mixture of comfortable successes and tightly contested finishes.

Opening the Worcester card, the Mares’ Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 5) was won by BEORMA for trainer Dan Skelton and jockey Harry Skelton. Racing in the colours of owner Mr Dan Skelton, the mare travelled strongly before asserting late on to defeat AUNTIE MAGGIE by 6 lengths, while FEET ON THE GROUND stayed on to finish third in the opening contest of the evening.

Continuing the programme, the Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 4) went to SUNRAY SHADOW, who provided another success for the Dan Skelton stable under Harry Skelton. Representing S T Racing – The Founders’ Syndicate, the winner produced a composed display over fences and crossed the line 2¾ lengths ahead of COURT IN A STORM, with ZACONY REBEL completing the first three home.

Among the closest finishes of the meeting, the Novices’ Hurdle Race (Class 4) saw KING’S SCHOLAR prevail by a short head for trainer Olly Murphy and jockey Sean Bowen. Owned by Paddy Brennan Racing Syndicate KING S, the winner battled strongly in the closing stages to narrowly deny ARBITRATION after a sustained duel approaching the line, while SO PROUD filled third place.

Adding another notable performance to the card, the Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 5) was won decisively by BRIONYWELLS for trainers David Killahena and Graeme McPherson. Partnered by Nick Slatter and owned by Mr Graeme P. McPherson, the winner drew clear in the latter stages to finish 7 lengths ahead of JUBERTILEE, while EDNA E MODE completed the placings.

In one of the later contests on the programme, the Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 4) saw CROWN OF INDIA secure victory for trainer Alex Hales and jockey Bryan Carver. Carrying the colours of The Agra Jewels, the winner held off the late challenge of SIAM PARK to score by three-quarter of a length, while FIDENDUM claimed third after remaining prominent throughout the contest.

Bringing the evening fixture to a close, the Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 5) went to MANCERO for trainer David Pipe and jockey Sean Bowen. Representing Teddington Racing, the winner delivered a solid performance in the concluding event to defeat CHURCHMAN by 4¾ lengths, with SCOTTISH DANCER completing the leading trio in the final race of the Worcester meeting.

The Worcester meeting featured a series of competitive National Hunt contests, with Harry Skelton and Sean Bowen each recording riding doubles across the six-race programme. Strong performances from the Dan Skelton stable and several closely fought hurdle races ensured the Worcester Race Results 28 May card produced an entertaining evening of racing action.
