At Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) , the fifth race of the Bangalore Summer Meeting’s sixth day on Sunday, 17 May 2026, saw STARZELLA produce an impressive maiden victory in The Track Lightning Plate, a 1400-metre contest for three-year-old horses. Ridden confidently by P. Trevor and trained by Prasanna Kumar, the filly stopped the clock at 1:24.70 to hand her connections a polished success in the evening feature for maidens. The winner races in the ownership of Capt Jamshed J Appoo, Mr K Narayan, Mr P Prasanna Kumar, Dr N Swaroop Kumar and Mr Rustam Phiroze Mehta. Breaking smartly and settling into a favourable rhythm through the early stages, STARZELLA travelled fluently behind the pace before quickening decisively entering the straight. P. Trevor timed his challenge to perfection, asking the filly for her effort at the right moment as she responded willingly to surge clear in the closing furlong. The manner of victory suggested both maturity and promise, with the Prasanna Kumar-trained runner maintaining a strong gallop right through the line.
Second place went to LEGACY FIELD, another representative from the yard of Prasanna Kumar, partnered by Akshay Kumar, who finished in 1:25.70 after staying on steadily in the straight. CANTARINA, ridden by Suraj Narredu and trained by S. Narredu, completed the frame in third with a timing of 1:26.07 after making late progress over the final stages.
With The Track Lightning Plate concluded, attention at BTC now shifts to The Racing Patrons Plate scheduled for 5:30 PM, as the Bangalore Summer Meeting continues to build towards the day’s bigger contests.
