The Bangalore Turf Club (BTC), witnessed another competitive contest during the Bangalore Summer Meeting’s third day on Saturday, 09 May 2026, as Siege Storm produced a polished performance to capture The Dean Stephens Memorial Trophy, Race No. 5 on the card. The 1400-metre maiden event for three-year-old horses, run at 5:00 PM, saw Akshay Kumar guide the Prasanna Kumar-trained colt to victory in 1:25.85 for owners Mr Daulat Chhabria, Mr S. R. Sanas, M/s DT Racing & Breeding LLP and Mr Ashok Ranpise. The Bangalore race result 9 May card continued to showcase promising young talent emerging through the summer campaign.
Siege Storm travelled smoothly through the early stages before being produced with a well-timed challenge in the straight. Akshay Kumar kept the youngster balanced and within striking range before asking for maximum effort inside the final furlong, where the colt responded gamely to assert his authority. The winner showed both composure and acceleration, qualities that could make him a horse to follow in the coming months.
ASHWA NEW YORK, ridden by Yash Narredu and trained by Rajesh Narredu, finished second after clocking 1:26.58, staying on steadily in pursuit of the winner. THE ARCHER, partnered by P. Trevor for trainer S.S. Attaollahi, claimed third place in 1:26.72 after making late progress in the closing stages. The margins among the placed runners reflected a competitive renewal of the maiden contest.
With Race No. 5 concluded, attention at Bangalore now turns to The Azhar Plate scheduled for 5:30 PM, as the Bangalore Summer Meeting continues to gather momentum at BTC.
