Set against the world-class turf stage of Japanese racing, the iconic venue of Tokyo Racecourse will host a competitive 12-race programme on Sunday, 10 May, headlined by the Grade 1 NHK Mile Cup over 1600 metres. The fixture will bring together promising three-year-olds, seasoned older runners and high-value feature contests across sprint, mile and staying distances, beginning at 10:05 and concluding at 16:30.
The opening pair of races will kick off the day’s action with developing three-year-olds. Race 1 at 10:05 over 1600 metres will carry prize money of 11,280,000 Yen, with Trust Legato, Baobhan Sith and Gold Believe among the expected runners. Race 2 at 10:35 over 1400 metres will also offer 11,280,000 Yen, featuring Vento Veloce, Sakura d’Or and Fuji Tenku in a sharp early sprint contest.
The next two races will continue the programme with a balance of mile and middle-distance tests. Race 3 at 11:05 over 1600 metres will see Flaring Berry, Sincerite and Cecile Brunner among the notable entries, while Race 4 at 11:35 over 2000 metres will include Clear Gale, L’Arc en Reve, Poison Oak and Lambrusco, all competing for the same 11,280,000 Yen purse.
Stamina and progression will come into focus in the next pairing. Race 5 at 12:25 over 2100 metres for three-year-olds will offer 15,620,000 Yen with Sky Rex, Rambling Man and Otoshidama expected to feature. Race 6 at 12:55 will open the older-horse section over 1400 metres, also worth 15,620,000 Yen, with Haru Aube, Triple Barrel and Relish in contention.
The afternoon sprint and mile contests will intensify through the next two races. Race 7 at 13:25 over 1300 metres for four-year-olds and upward will again carry 15,620,000 Yen and include Brick’n Click, Bonar Tesoro and Tokimeki Zinnia. Race 8 at 13:55 over 1400 metres will step up to 22,690,000 Yen, with Ho O Shelly, Taliesin and Tsunesan expected to compete.
The staying division will take centre stage in the final stretch of the card. Race 9 at 14:25, the Hiyoshi Tokubetsu over 2100 metres, will offer 30,360,000 Yen with Imperial Line, Historiai and Otachi among the key runners. Race 10 at 15:00, the Listed Metropolitan Stakes over 2400 metres, will carry 53,390,000 Yen and is expected to feature Copano Santos, Battle Born and Las Cumbres in a strong staying lineup.
The highlight of the day will arrive in Race 11 at 15:40 with the Grade 1 NHK Mile Cup over 1600 metres for three-year-olds. With a massive prize pool of 253,460,000 Yen, the race will feature top-class contenders including Resort Island, Yu Pharoah and Hornero.
The meeting will conclude with Race 12 at 16:30, the Rikka Stakes over 1600 metres. The closing race will offer 36,060,000 Yen and is expected to feature On the Line, Puff and Seguir el Viento in a competitive finale.
