The Inglis Digital Australian Broodmare Sale Sessions will headline a revised structure for the upcoming Inglis Digital April (Late) and May (Early) Sales, with both auctions extended by an additional day to better accommodate the growing demand for quality breeding stock. The move reflects the platform’s continued evolution into a central marketplace for broodmares and race fillies, offering participants a more streamlined and focused trading environment.
Under the new format, dedicated sessions for broodmares and race fillies will be conducted on the Thursday following the traditional Wednesday close of general catalogues. This adjustment is designed to consolidate breeding stock into a single, targeted window, allowing buyers more time for inspection, evaluation and decision-making, while providing vendors with greater exposure.
The regular sale catalogues will still conclude from 10am on their respective Wednesdays, covering racehorses, young stock, shares and other entries. The Inglis Digital Australian Broodmare Sale Sessions will then take centre stage the following day, closing from 10am Thursday.
Inglis Digital Australian Broodmare Sale Sessions reshape marketplace
The Inglis Digital Australian Broodmare Sale Sessions arrive at a time when the platform has firmly established itself as a key avenue for sourcing elite breeding prospects. Figures from 2025 underline that growth, with broodmares fetching up to $1.65 million and 39 lots surpassing the $100,000 mark. Race fillies also proved highly sought after, reaching $500,000 at the top end, with 25 achieving six-figure returns.
Beyond raw numbers, the influence of the platform is evident in the racetrack success of progeny from mares traded online. High-class performers such as Sheza Alibi, Libertad, Strictly Business, Griff and Hayasugi all trace back to dams sourced via Inglis Digital, reinforcing confidence among breeders and buyers alike.
Inglis Digital’s Nick Melmeth described the revised structure as a practical and progressive step forward for the industry.
“The traditional Australian Broodmare Sale has been discontinued, but this new structure is even more user friendly and cost effective for buyers and sellers,” Melmeth said.
“Our platform allows us to extend the sales window, so subject to entries, broodmares and race fillies will be offered on the Thursday, while the remainder of the catalogue closes as usual on Wednesday.
“It effectively mirrors the previous format but provides an additional 24 hours specifically for breeding stock, allowing more time for inspections, evaluations and veterinary checks.”
Melmeth added that early feedback from vendors has been notably positive, with several planning to consolidate their stock into these sessions to maximise engagement from prospective buyers.
A further highlight of the Inglis Digital May (Early) Sale will be a significant draft of more than 45 broodmares and fillies from Godolphin. The offering is set to include mares in foal to prominent stallions such as Anamoe, Street Boss, Cylinder, Traffic Warden and Bivouac, adding considerable depth to the catalogue.
The updated schedule for the Inglis Digital April (Late) Sale sees entries closing on Wednesday, April 22, with bidding opening on Friday, April 24. The general catalogue will conclude from 10am on Wednesday, April 29, followed by the Inglis Digital Australian Broodmare Sale Sessions closing from 10am on Thursday, April 30.
Similarly, the Inglis Digital May (Early) Sale will accept entries until Wednesday, May 6, before bidding opens on Friday, May 8. The main catalogue concludes from 10am on Wednesday, May 13, with the broodmare session closing from 10am on Thursday, May 14. Both schedules remain subject to final entry volumes.
In a related adjustment, the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale has been moved back by one day and will now take place on Tuesday, May 5 and Wednesday, May 6 at Riverside. The shift comes following feedback from both vendors and buyers, further illustrating Inglis’ willingness to refine its calendar in line with industry needs.
