Entries for the NZB 2026 National Weanling Sale are now officially open, with the auction scheduled to take place at the Karaka Sales Centre on Thursday, 25 June, marking a key date on New Zealand’s bloodstock calendar.

The NZB 2026 National Weanling Sale continues in its established weanling-only format, offering a focused marketplace for breeders, pinhookers and owners seeking future racetrack prospects. Over recent years, the sale has developed a reputation as a reliable source of both early trading success stories and long-term performers, attracting a diverse buying bench from across Australasia and beyond.

Held at Karaka, the sale provides breeders with an opportunity to present their young stock to a broad international and domestic audience. A notable incentive remains the eligibility for the Karaka Millions Series, adding further appeal for buyers targeting future returns on the track.

Last year’s edition of the NZB 2026 National Weanling Sale precursor delivered strong results, returning more than $2.5 million to breeders. The standout lot was a colt by Per Incanto out of London Express, offered by Seaton Park, which realised $190,000. It was one of four weanlings to reach six figures, underlining the depth of demand and consistent participation from international buyers.

NZB Managing Director Andrew Seabrook reflected on the sale’s standing within the industry, noting its proven record.

“Industry participants recognise the National Weanling Sale as a genuine source of quality racehorses and successful pinhooking prospects,” Seabrook said.

Following a robust 2025–26 sales season, highlighted by the milestone 100th National Yearling Sale, Seabrook expressed confidence in continued momentum.

“After a strong yearling sale, demand for weanlings in June is expected to remain very healthy,” he added. “We also saw encouraging growth in Australian participation last year, and we aim to present a catalogue that will draw that interest back to Karaka.”

NZB 2026 National Weanling Sale offers Karaka Millions pathway

All lots catalogued in the NZB 2026 National Weanling Sale are eligible for nomination to the Karaka Millions Series, one of the most attractive incentives in the region’s racing programme. Graduates can compete in the $1 million Karaka Millions 2YO (1200m), the $1.5 million Karaka Millions 3YO (1600m), as well as the NZB Mega Maiden Series.

Entries for the sale are open from today and will close on 16 April, giving breeders a defined window to secure a place in the catalogue ahead of the June auction.

With strong recent trade, international engagement, and a proven pathway to racetrack success, the NZB 2026 National Weanling Sale once again shapes as an important fixture to close the New Zealand bloodstock season.
