The lively and most awaited Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) meeting will take place this Sunday in Mumbai, presenting a meticulously organised ten-race programme at the prestigious Mahalaxmi Racecourse on 15 March 2026. The highlight of the day will be the Poonawalla Stud Farms Auction Sale Stakes, the feature race of the meeting, set to attract elite three-year-old thoroughbreds partnered with accomplished jockeys.

Racing will commence at 4:00 PM and continue through the evening, covering distances from 1,200 metres to 2,400 metres, with total prize money ranging from Rs.10 lakh to Rs.1 crore. The programme is structured to provide a coherent progression from early handicaps to the feature event, emphasising both speed and stamina.

Kicking off the card, The Haunting Memories Million will be run at 4:00 PM. This Class II handicap, over 1,600 metres, is open to horses rated 60 to 86, carrying a prize of Rs.10,00,000. Thundering Phoenix, Son of a Gun, Zacharias, Opus Dei, Namiri, Fortunate Son, and Break Point are expected to participate.

Following the opening contest, the Open Spaces Million, a Class V handicap for Indian horses rated 1 to 26, will be held at 4:25 PM over 1,200 metres, with a total prize of Rs.10,00,000. Jackson, Samson, Phantasmiqué, Santana Row, Renaissance, Ashwa Ankara, and We Still Believe are projected to compete.

The programme continues with the Shapoorji Pallonji Breeders’ Juvenile Colts’ Championship (Grade III) at 4:50 PM. Covering 1,600 metres, this event carries a prize of Rs.25,00,000, with juvenile colts including Alexios, D’Artagnan, Enrich, Alpha Strike, Bravion, Lion Heart, and Puccini expected to line up.

Shortly thereafter, the Forbes Breeders’ Juvenile Fillies’ Championship (Grade III) will take place at 5:15 PM over 1,600 metres, exclusively for three-year-old Indian fillies, offering a prize of Rs.25,00,000. Angelisa, Menorca, Pinnacle, and Vortex are anticipated to participate.

The Maharaja Sir Harisinghji Trophy powered by Mr. Zavaray S. Poonawalla (Grade III), for horses aged four and above, will follow at 5:45 PM over 1,600 metres, carrying a prize fund of Rs.35,00,000. Horses including Psychic Star, African Gold, Pride’s Prince, Zuccaro, Jade, Chagall, and The Milenium Force are expected to compete.

Next on the card, the C. N. Wadia Gold Cup (Grade II), a 2,400-metre contest for older horses with a prize of Rs.50,00,000, will be run at 6:10 PM. Sovereign King, King Ke, Evaldo, Golden Thunder, Dream Alliance, Red Bishop, Thalassa, and Azalea are projected to participate.

The following event, the Lahinch Million, a Class IV handicap over 1,400 metres, carrying a prize of Rs.10,00,000, will be conducted at 6:45 PM. Ashwa Gypsy, Algonquin, Neutralist, Starseed, Charisse, Esteban, La Dolce Vita, and Neutron are expected to line up.

Highlighting the meeting, the Poonawalla Stud Farms Auction Sale Stakes will be contested at 7:10 PM over 1,400 metres, exclusively for three-year-old Indian horses, with a prize of Rs.1,00,00,000. Invictor (P. Trevor), Gunfire (Yash Narredu), Rambo (Antony Raj S.), Scorcher (T. S. Jodha), Sequential (J. Chinoy), Queen of Beauties (Akshay Kumar), Baillee (Prashant P. Dhebe), Golden Hues (Aditya Waydande), and Mystica (A. Sandesh) are expected to participate. This race serves as the principal measure of emerging three-year-old talent at the Mumbai meeting.

Following the feature, the Zavaray S. Poonawalla Sprinters’ Challenge, a 1,200-metre sprint for horses aged four and above, with a prize of Rs.35,00,000, will be held at 7:35 PM. Miss American Pie, Dream Seller, Shambala, Western Star, Christophany, Credence, and Social Butterfly are projected to compete.

The meeting will conclude with the Ahead Of My Time Million, a Class III handicap over 1,200 metres, scheduled for 8:00 PM, offering a prize of Rs.10,00,000. Horses rated 40 to 66, including Challenge Accepted, El Moran, Ariyana Star, Manor House, Shirsa, Skandha, Goddes of Dawn, Charlie Brown, and Moonlight Kiss are expected to line up.

The Poonawalla Stud Farms Auction Sale Stakes will headline the ten-race programme at Mahalaxmi, pairing elite three-year-old thoroughbreds with accomplished jockeys. The Mumbai Race Cards 15 March will feature a structured progression of handicaps, juvenile championships, and high-stakes graded events, offering a professional showcase of Indian racing excellence.
