The Kolkata race result 12 March began to unfold at the Calcutta Racecourse with Race 1, The Fly Like The Wind Handicap, a Class V contest for horses rated 1–26 over 1400 metres, run at 2:00 PM during the CALCUTTA RACES, SUMMER MEETING, FOURTH DAY on Thursday. Emerging best from the opening contest was Moneycatcher, ridden by M. S. Deora and trained by Shafiq Khan, who produced a determined effort to secure victory for owners Mr Mohammed Shakeel, Mr Rustom E Daroga & Mr Shafiq Khan.
Moneycatcher travelled comfortably through the early stages before being produced at the right moment in the straight. Jockey M. S. Deora judged the pace well, allowing the mare to settle before gradually building momentum approaching the final furlong. Once asked for an effort, Moneycatcher responded willingly, stretching clear inside the closing stages to land the opening race with authority and give trainer Shafiq Khan a pleasing start to the afternoon.
Finishing second was Made In Heaven, ridden by Darshan N and trained by Rutherford Alford, who stayed on steadily but could not quite match the winner’s finishing burst. Lineupandcollect, under Gaurav Singh for trainer B. Rajender Reddy, completed the placings in third after keeping on gamely through the final stages.
With the curtain raised on the day’s racing, attention now shifts to the next contest on the card, The Quasar Handicap, scheduled to go off at 2:30 PM, as the Kolkata Summer Meeting continues to build momentum.
