The concluding contest of the Mumbai Meeting 2025/26, Sixteenth Day at the Mumbai Racecourse saw Race No. 7 – The A. Geddis Plate, a Class IV handicap for Indian horses aged five years and over rated 20 to 46 (0 to 19 eligible) over 1200 metres, provide a fitting finale on Sunday, 8th March 2026 at 07:30 PM. Delivering a sharp and decisive performance, Interceptor powered home under Yash Narredu to secure victory for trainer P. S. Chouhan, racing in the colours of Mr Jatin L. Trivedi & Mr Nitin H. Jain rep. J. N. Racing & Breeders LLP. The result formed a key highlight of the Mumbai race results 8 March, bringing the evening’s racing programme to an energetic close.
Interceptor travelled comfortably through the early stages of the sprint while the field established their positions. Jockey Yash Narredu kept the runner settled just behind the early pace before producing a well-timed challenge in the final stretch. Responding strongly when asked for effort, Interceptor accelerated smartly inside the last furlong and surged clear to clinch the victory in convincing fashion, ensuring the day’s final race ended on a decisive note.
Desert Classic, ridden by N. S. Parmar and trained by P. S. Chouhan, finished second after staying on gamely in the straight and briefly threatening the winner’s advantage. Believe, partnered by B. Nikhil for trainer S. Waheed, completed the frame in third with a steady closing run.
Earlier in the afternoon, the Mumbai programme began with Race 1 – The S. Padmanabhan Cup (1400m) at 04:30 PM, where Fourth Wing produced a confident performance under Yash Narredu to win for trainer Aman Altaf Hussain while carrying the colours of Mrs Pragya Devgan & Mr Ritvik Devgan rep Niche Agriculture & Pharmaceuticals Limited. Bee Magical finished second for jockey Neeraj Rawal and trainer Imtiaz A. Sait, while Earth secured third with Aditya Waydande in the saddle for trainer Sanjay Kolse.
The momentum continued in Race 2 – The J. P. Vazifdar Trophy (1600m) at 05:00 PM, where Don Julio, ridden by Prashant P. Dhebe, scored a well-earned victory for trainer Rehanullah Khan. The winner raced in the ownership of Mr & Mrs I Nathani, M/s Murad I Nathani & Zain I Nathani rep Alpha Stud and Farms Pvt Ltd. Tyrannus finished second under Neeraj Rawal for trainer Imtiaz A. Sait, while Seneca, ridden by Vivek G. for trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha, took third.
In Race 3 – The Rajpipla Trophy (1400m) at 05:30 PM, Zayyan delivered a strong performance for jockey Vivek G. and trainer P. Shroff, scoring for owners Mr K N Dhunjibhoy, Mr Z K Dhunjibhoy & Ms Anosha Meyers rep Five Stars Shipping Co Pvt Ltd. Lion Heart finished second with Akshay Kumar riding for trainer Dallas Todywalla, while Spectra claimed third for Prashant P. Dhebe and trainer Sanjay Kolse.
The sprint contest Race 4 – The J. Rustomji Soparivala Trophy (1000m) at 06:00 PM saw Staria dash to victory under Akshay Kumar for trainer P. S. Chouhan, racing in the colours of Dr Ram H Shroff & Mr Raj H Shroff rep Stride Livestock Pvt Ltd. Lucky Diamond, ridden by Vivek G. for trainer Narendra Lagad, finished second, while Queen Caroline secured third with S. G. Prasad aboard for trainer Aman Altaf Hussain.
The pace remained high in Race 5 – The Greater Mumbai Police Trophy (1000m) at 06:30 PM, where Ensky stormed to victory under C. Umesh for trainer Faisal A. Abbas, carrying the colours of Mrs Seema Kamlesh Shah. House Of Lords, ridden by Bharat Singh for trainer Narendra Lagad, finished second, while Jaisalmer claimed third under Dashrath Singh for trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha.
Just before the finale, Race 6 – The Vallabhdas H. Adwalia Trophy (1400m) at 07:00 PM produced an impressive performance from Golden Heart, who triumphed under Yash Narredu for trainer M. Narredu. The winner represented a large ownership group including Mrs B. E. Saldanha, Mr Aftab Singh & Mr Mehtab Singh rep. Sohna Stud Farm Pvt. Ltd, Mr M. Narredu, Mr Roopesh M. Kaul rep. Phantom Racing LLP & Mr James O’Donnell & Mr Abhilash Puljal rep. Kingsmoor World India Private Limited. Beyond Stars finished second with S. Zervan for trainer S. Waheed, while Golden Hammer completed the placings under Aditya Waydande for trainer Imtiaz A. Sait.
