The opening contest of the afternoon at the Royal Calcutta Turf Club saw SIMRAN’S ATTITUDE deliver a confident performance to land Race 1 – The Royal Mantle Handicap, a Class V race for horses rated 1–26 over 1600 metres during the Calcutta Races, Summer Meeting Second Day, Friday, 6th March 2026. The race, run at 02:30 PM, produced a determined display from the winner, who clocked 1:41.628 under jockey Varun to secure victory for trainer Vikash Jaiswal. Racing in the colours of Mrs Chhaya Jaiswal & Mr Tarak Singha Roy, the winner set the tone for the afternoon’s proceedings.
In what will feature prominently in the Kolkata race result 6 March reports, SIMRAN’S ATTITUDE travelled smoothly through the mile contest before asserting authority when the field straightened for home. Varun timed the challenge neatly, allowing the filly to build momentum approaching the final furlong. Once asked for an effort, SIMRAN’S ATTITUDE responded gamely, stretching clear to claim the honours with a decisive burst of speed.
LOCHS AND GLENS, ridden by Nikhil Naidu and trained by Neil Darashah, chased the winner home to finish second after staying on steadily through the final stages. Stablemate CARNATION, partnered by Suraj Narredu, completed the placings in third for the same trainer, ensuring the Darashah yard secured both minor positions in the race.
With the curtain raiser concluded, attention now shifts to the next contest on the card — The Adiella Handicap, scheduled to be run at 03:00 PM, where another competitive field is set to line up at the historic Kolkata track.
