Nine-Race Evening Set for Newcastle: Sprint and Middle-Distance Action on Tapeta

Newcastle Racecourse will stage a varied nine-race all-weather programme on Friday, 6 March, presenting a structured sequence of sprint and middle-distance contests on the Tapeta surface. The evening fixture will bring together runners competing across Class 6 through Class 4 divisions, with proceedings scheduled to commence at 4:26pm and continue through the evening until 8:30pm.

The meeting will open at 4:26pm with the Midnite Ain’t Your Grandad’s Bookie Handicap Stakes (Class 5) run over 1m 4f 98y for £7,100 in prize money with seven runners declared. Ludo’s Landing, Traila, Market House and Elemental Eye are among those expected to take their place in the field. As the longest contest in the early stages of the programme, the race will place emphasis on stamina and patient race management around the Tapeta circuit.

Race two will follow at 5:00pm with the Meg Nicholls’ Blog Novice Stakes (Class 4) conducted over 6f with £10,000 in prize money and seven runners scheduled to compete. Bucklow Hill, Nursia, Silent Strike and Cotai Lights are among the runners assembled for the novice sprint, where developing performers will seek to demonstrate early speed and progression.

The third race at 5:30pm will be the Handicap Stakes (Class 4) run over 1m 5y for £9,500 in prize money with ten runners declared. Night Breeze, Callianassa, Carron and War Howl are among the anticipated participants in a contest where tactical positioning and sustained finishing effort are likely to prove decisive over the mile trip.

Attention will then turn to 6:00pm, when Division I of a Handicap Stakes (Class 5) will be staged over 7f 14y carrying £7,100 in prize money with eight runners declared. Goldmoyne, Hectic, Al Muqdad and Golden Strike headline the field for the first division of the race.

At 6:30pm, Division II of the same handicap will be conducted over 7f 14y for £7,100 in prize money with eight runners expected. Dorney Lake, Blazing Son, Flowstate and Beauty Choice are among those scheduled to contest the second division of the evenly balanced event.

The sixth race will take place at 7:00pm, a Handicap Stakes (Class 6) run over 1m 5y with £9,000 in prize money and seven runners declared. Moyowasi, Wyvern, Mr Fustic and Sold Out are among the runners expected to line up in a contest likely to reward composure and measured pacing over the mile distance.

A shift toward pure speed will follow at 7:30pm when the Midnite Classified Stakes (Class 6) will be run over 5f with £6,000 in prize money and nine runners expected. Classy Clarets, Fortunate Star, A Lady Forever and Desert Master are among those set to compete in the shortest race of the evening.

The penultimate contest at 8:00pm will be Division I of the Apprentice Handicap Stakes (Class 6) conducted over 6f for £9,000 in prize money with eight runners declared. Yorkshire Glory, Bullington Bry, Jkr Cobbler and Pit Boss are among those anticipated to feature as apprentice riders take centre stage.

The programme will conclude at 8:30pm with Division II of the same handicap over 6f, again carrying £9,000 in prize money with eight runners declared. Teardrops, Howzak, He’s An Angel and Bonito Cavalo are among those scheduled to bring the evening’s proceedings to a close.

Across its nine-race structure, the Newcastle Race Cards 6 March will present a diverse and measured racing programme, combining sprint contests with stamina-testing assignments while showcasing the versatility of the all-weather surface.
