The third race on the card at the Calcutta Races Summer Meeting first day on Thursday, 5 March 2026 saw Cielo deliver a sharp performance to capture The Prince Blossom Cup, a 1100m contest for three-year-old horses run at 03:30 PM. Ridden with assurance by P. Trevor, the Aashay Doctor-trained runner clocked 1:05.991 to secure victory for owners Mrs Pallavi Sharma, M/s United Investments, Mr Sandip Kumar Mandal, Mr Vishal Doctor & Mr Kamal J Doctor rep M/s Deciding Factor LLP, Mr Vivek Choudhary, M/s Sarainaga Racing Pvt Ltd, Mr Enrico Piperno, Mr Hemang Devendra Doctor, Mr Achuthan Siddharth, Dr S P Sardeshmukh, Mr Aashay Doctor & Mr Eashwar Unnikrishnan A.

Breaking well from the gates, Cielo quickly settled into a comfortable rhythm under Trevor as the pace lifted down the backstretch. Maintaining a measured position before the bend, the colt responded strongly when asked in the straight, quickening with authority in the closing stages to edge clear and assert control in the final strides.

Princess S finished a close second, with Suraj Narredu in the saddle for trainer Deepesh Narredu, stopping the clock at 1:06.144 after staying within striking range throughout the run. Fifty Shades, ridden by A. Ashhad Asbar for trainer B. Mahesh, completed the placings in 1:06.344, finishing on gamely to secure third.

With the Prince Blossom Cup decided, attention at the Kolkata track now turns to the upcoming The Aperitivo Cup, scheduled for 04:00 PM, as the Summer Meeting’s opening day continues to gather momentum.
