Under the stewardship of the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC), a seven-race programme will be conducted at Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai on 26 February. The Mumbai meeting will present a carefully framed card blending higher-class handicaps with progressive maiden contests, staged across sprint and middle-distance trips with clearly defined race conditions and prize structures. The evening schedule will reflect the depth of competition across multiple rating bands while maintaining balance between established campaigners and emerging talent.

The card will commence at 4:30 PM with The R. N. Kanga Trophy, a Class I handicap for horses rated 80 and upward. The feature will be run over 1600 metres and will carry total prize money of Rs.12,00,000. SHUBANKAR, PRIDE’S PRINCE, EL GRECO, THE MILENIUM FORCE and CHAGALL will contest the mile event, which will headline the evening’s programme and test proven performers at the highest level on the card.

At 5:00 PM, The A. F. S. Talyarkhan Salver will be staged over 1000 metres for maiden Indian horses aged three years. The sprint will offer a total purse of Rs.12,00,000. ABSOLUTE EMPEROR, GHOST OF VICTORY, SEIZE THE GREY, CAFE NOIRE, FUNNY BUNNY and LEMPIKA will line up in the five-furlong contest. With several lightly raced contenders in the field, the race will provide an early indication of emerging three-year-old potential over the minimum trip.

The programme will continue at 5:30 PM with The Pradeep Vijayakar Plate, a Class IV handicap for Indian horses rated 20 to 46. The race will be conducted over 1200 metres and will carry prize money of Rs.5,50,000. CINDERELLA’S DREAM, FOUJITA, ELOQUENT, MEDUSA, SURREALIST and NEW YORKER will compete in the sprint, where consistency within the rating band will prove significant.

At 6:00 PM, The Sir Charles Forbes Trophy will be run over 1400 metres for maiden three-year-olds. The contest will be worth Rs.12,00,000 in total prize money. DAVID, INCREDIBLE LUCK, SILVER DYNAMITE, CAVIAR QUEEN, FAIR DAME and MENORCA will feature in the extended sprint. The additional distance compared to the earlier maiden event will require greater stamina and tactical judgement.

The Indian Air Force Trophy will follow at 6:30 PM, a Class IV handicap over 1000 metres with a total purse of Rs.5,50,000. KOENIGSEGG, AKITANIA, MRIGA, VIENNOISE, BAKLAVA and ETOILE will contest the sharp sprint, where early acceleration and positional advantage will hold importance.

At 7:00 PM, The Narayandas J. Dave Plate will cater to Class V horses aged five years and over, rated 1 to 26. The race will be run over 1200 metres and will carry Rs.5,00,000 in prize money. PRECIOSO, BEYOND STARS, JETFIRE, RISE ALL STARS, OTELLO and ANANYA will line up in a contest designed for seasoned runners competing within their grade.

The meeting will conclude at 7:30 PM with The J. V. Shukla – Ashwamitra Plate, a Class III handicap over 1400 metres. The final race of the evening will be worth Rs.6,50,000. AMAZING RULER, SPANISH EYES, DENSETSU, MATISSE, SUBSTANTIAL and WIND DANCER will close the seven-race programme, bringing the curtain down on a schedule that will span a variety of classes and distances.
