Guided by Saudi Arabia’s multiple champion jockey Adel Alfouraidi, the colt proved untouchable, leaving rivals chasing shadows as he surged past the finish line.
From the break, Almad’agi settled prominently, showing the poise of a seasoned competitor. Aez Alkhatir (KSA) briefly grabbed the early lead, with Almad’agi tracking patiently, half a length behind. As the field rounded the final bend, Toufan Najd (KSA) made a bold inside move, threatening to upset the pace. But Almad’agi, responding perfectly to Alfouraidi’s urging, found another gear and streaked clear, crossing the line three and a half lengths ahead of Aez Alkhatir and Azmaat (KSA).
Owned by Abdulelah Abdul Aziz Almousa, the colt stopped the clock at an impressive 1:13.665, a testament to both his raw speed and Alfouraidi’s expert guidance. The victory was so commanding that Alfouraidi could afford to raise his hands in celebration as he passed the crowd — a rare and thrilling sight in a sprint of this calibre.
Speaking after the race, Alfouraidi could hardly contain his excitement: “The horse is a champion. I’m very, very happy. This was a race for speed and he was very good. This makes me ready for my rides tomorrow and The Saudi Cup [on Banishing]. I’m ready.”
Joel Rosario, finishing third aboard Azmaat, reflected on the experience: “She was very good. She finished third, that was good. It’s just nice to be here. Thank you to Saudi Arabia, all the other connections and everybody. I really appreciate everything.”
