Mumbai’s Twelfth Day Ends in Style as AZURE wins The Byram N. Jeejeebhoy Trophy

The curtain came down on MUMBAI MEETING 2025/26, TWELFTH DAY, Thursday 12th February 2026, with Race No. 7 – The Byram N. Jeejeebhoy Trophy, a Class III Handicap for Indian horses rated 40 to 66 (20 to 39 eligible) over 1000 metres at 05:30 PM. In a sharp display of early speed and sustained momentum, AZURE (J: Mustakim Alam, T: Imtiaz A. Sait) captured the final race of the afternoon in 0:57:885. Racing in the distinguished silks of Mr & Mrs Shapoor P. Mistry rep Manjri Horse Breeders’ Farm Pvt Ltd, Mr D. R. Thacker rep DT Racing & Breeders LLP & Mr Ashok Ranpise, AZURE signed off the day’s Mumbai race results 12 February on a high note with a decisive sprint performance.

Breaking smartly from the gates, AZURE quickly established a handy position just off the early leader before Mustakim Alam asked for an effort approaching the final 400 metres. Displaying a telling turn of foot, the Imtiaz A. Sait trainee surged ahead inside the last furlong and maintained a firm grip on the advantage, keeping challengers at bay with authority. The 1000-metre dash demanded precision and pace judgment, both of which were executed to perfection by the winning combination.

EASTERN MONARCH (J: A. Prakash, T: Sanjay Kolse) ran a commendable race to secure second, staying on resolutely in the closing stages but unable to bridge the gap to the winner. STORM CLOUD (J: Bharat Singh, T: Narendra Lagad) finished third after showing early speed and battling on gamely through the sprint trip, rounding off a competitive finale to the evening.

Earlier in the afternoon, the meeting commenced with Race No. 1, The Raza Ali Plate over 1400 metres at 02:30 PM, where ALEXANDRIA (J: S. Siddharth, T: Altamaash A. Ahmed) struck the first blow for owners Mr Gaurav Sethi, Mr K. H. Vachha, Mr Shantanu Sharma & Mr Vishal K. Doctor rep Deciding Factor LLP. LUMINOSITY (J: Bharat Singh, T: Nirad Karanjawala) finished second ahead of WE STILL BELIEVE (J: B. Nikhil, T: S. Waheed).

Race No. 2, The M. D. Mehta Trophy over 1000 metres at 03:00 PM, saw LATIOS (J: Yash Narredu, T: Aman Altaf Hussain) score impressively for Mr Waahiid Ali Khan rep Sshaawn Horses and Sports Pvt Ltd, Mr Kapil Bahl & Mr Anil Saraf. LUCKY DIAMOND (J: K. Nazil, T: Narendra Lagad) claimed second, while DREAMS COME TRUE (J: A. Prakash, T: Sanjay Kolse) was third.

The 03:30 PM feature, Race No. 3 – The P. D. Bolton Trophy over 1400 metres, was captured by THUNDERING PHOENIX (J: Vivek G., T: Adhirajsingh Jodha) for a large ownership alliance including Shah Equines LLP and Manjri Horse Breeders’ Farm Pvt Ltd among others. FOURTH WING (J: Yash Narredu, T: Aman Altaf Hussain) and EARTH (J: Akshay Kumar, T: Sanjay Kolse) filled the minor placings.

Race No. 4, The M. M. T. Pandole Plate over 1200 metres at 04:00 PM, went the way of SKANDHA (J: T. S. Jodha, T: Nazzak B. Chenoy), who delivered for Miss Nazzak B. Chenoy, Mr Aftab Singh & Mr Mehtab Singh rep Sohna Stud Farm Pvt Ltd & Mr J. H. Damania. COMMANCHERO (J: Mustakim Alam, T: Dallas Todywalla) and MRIGA (J: Vivek G., T: B. Prithviraj) completed the frame.

Stamina came to the fore in Race No. 5, The W. Buckley Plate over 2000 metres at 04:30 PM, where BRIGHT BUTTON (J: Neeraj Rawal, T: Imtiaz A. Sait) stayed on strongly to score for Equus Racing. VIKING (J: Akshay Kumar, T: Adhirajsingh Jodha) was second, ahead of MARATHA ADMIRAL (J: N. S. Parmar, T: M. K. Jadhav).

The penultimate contest, Race No. 6 – The Bangalore Turf Club Trophy over 1400 metres at 05:00 PM, saw ENRICH (J: Yash Narredu, T: M. Narredu) register a fine victory for the Saldanha family ownership. CHERUBINE (J: Neeraj Rawal, T: P. Shroff) and STARIA (J: T. S. Jodha, T: P. S. Chouhan) followed home in second and third respectively.

With seven competitive races producing standout performances across sprint and middle distances, AZURE’s explosive finish provided a fitting climax to an absorbing day of racing at Mumbai, leaving enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the season’s unfolding drama.
