The Mumbai race result 12 February produced a resolute staying performance in Race 5, as BRIGHT BUTTON powered home to win The W. Buckley Plate, a Class V handicap for Indian horses rated 1 to 26, over 2000 metres on Thursday, 12th February 2026. Run at 4:30 PM during the MUMBAI MEETING 2025/26, TWELFTH DAY, the contest saw the Imtiaz A. Sait-trained filly deliver a determined display under Neeraj Rawal, clocking 2:04:740 for owners Equus Racing.
Settled comfortably through the early stages, BRIGHT BUTTON travelled with purpose as the field found its rhythm along the backstretch. Rawal kept his mount within striking distance while ensuring he conserved enough for the demanding final 400 metres. As the tempo lifted turning for home, the leader was challenged on multiple fronts, but BRIGHT BUTTON responded gamely when asked for an effort. Showing stamina and grit, he lengthened his stride inside the final furlong to assert authority and seal the verdict in convincing style.
VIKING, ridden by Akshay Kumar and trained by Adhirajsingh Jodha, finished second after attempting to dictate terms in the straight, while MARATHA ADMIRAL (J: N. S. Parmar, T: M. K. Jadhav) stayed on steadily to claim third. The minor placings were earned through persistence, but neither could match the winner’s sustained finish over the testing mile-and-a-quarter trip.
With The W. Buckley Plate decided, attention now turns to the Bangalore Turf Club Trophy at 5:00 PM, where another competitive field is set to keep the Mumbai crowd engrossed as the afternoon programme builds toward its finale.
