GREY HORIZON Signs Off Strongly on Seven-Race Card at Southwell Racecourse

Racing at Nottinghamshire’s all-weather venue concluded with a seven-race programme on Wednesday, and the meeting at Southwell Racecourse reflected a mixture of sprint efficiency and stamina across the afternoon’s Class 5 and Class 6 contests.

The fixture began at 1:44pm and progressed through to 4:44pm, with established riders and smaller yards sharing success on the Tapeta surface.

The opening contest at 1:44pm, the Handicap Stakes (Class 6), was won by SHALAA ASKER for trainer Charlie Wallis. Ridden by Rob Hornby, the gelding completed the trip in 58.87 seconds for owner Mr John Joseph Smith, setting a brisk early standard for the day.

At 2:14pm, the Handicap Stakes (Class 6) went to SKYCUTTER, partnered by Stevie Donohoe. Trained by Tony Culhane & Stella Barclay and owned by The French Connection, the winner stayed on over the extended distance to record a time of 3m 10.50s.

The 2:44pm Handicap Stakes (Class 6) saw DREAM ILLUSION prevail under Dylan Hogan. Representing Michael Herrington and owner Mrs J. Lewis, the runner stopped the clock at 1m 41.06s.

In the 3:14pm Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes (Class 5), NAANA’S CRYSTAL delivered a measured performance for Marco Botti. Marco Ghiani took the ride as the filly completed the contest in 1m 43.00s for Scuderia Sagam Srls.

The 3:44pm Handicap Stakes (Class 6) produced a sharp performance from HINT OF THE JUNGLE, giving Rob Hornby a second success on the card. Trained by Mike Murphy and owned by Ms Denise Tibbett, the winner recorded 1m 28.78s.

At 4:14pm, the Handicap Stakes (Class 5) went to THANKUAPPRECIATE, ridden by Zak Wheatley and trained by Declan Carroll. Racing in the colours of Miss Tracey Mann & Mr John Pinckney, the winner posted 1m 14.74s.

The concluding 4:44pm Handicap Stakes (Class 5) was secured by GREY HORIZON for trainer Scott Dixon. Kieran O’Neill guided the runner home in 1m 16.35s on behalf of Amphitheatre Racing Limited.

Across the afternoon, several riders recorded notable performances, with Rob Hornby’s double standing out.
