The prestigious Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) at Mahalaxmi, will usher the Mumbai meeting on Thursday, 12 Feburary marking the twelfth day of the 2025/26 Mumbai season with a seven-race programme featuring handicaps and maiden contests across sprint and middle-distance trips.
Racing will begin at 2:30 PM and will continue through to 5:30 PM, with Indian-bred runners competing across several rating divisions. The afternoon will include opportunities for experienced handicappers as well as emerging three-year-olds aiming to progress in maiden company.
The card will open with THE RAZA ALI PLATE at 2:30 PM, a Class V handicap over 1,400 metres for horses rated 1 to 26 and carrying total prize money of Rs.5,00,000. Alexandria will go to post under S. Siddharth, Remy Red will have S. Mosin in the saddle, Meadow Springs will be guided by C. Umesh, Hola Amigo will be handled by K. Nazil, while Lara will be steered by Vivek G.
At 3:00 PM, attention will shift to three-year-old maidens in THE M. D. MEHTA TROPHY, run over 1,000 metres with prize money of Rs.12,00,000. Lucky Diamond will be ridden by K. Nazil, Satyavan will compete with Mustakim Alam aboard, Avante will come under Neeraj Rawal, Dreams Come True will be piloted by A. Prakash, and Inheritance will run in the hands of Akshay Kumar.
Class II runners will then contest THE P. D. BOLTON TROPHY at 3:30 PM, staged over 1,400 metres with a purse of Rs.7,50,000 for horses rated 60 to 86. Earth will be partnered by Akshay Kumar, Singer Sargent will race with Amyn Merchant, Bashir will have Bharat Singh taking charge, Fourth Wing will be handled by Yash Narredu, and Destroyer will be guided by S. G. Prasad.
The programme will continue at 4:00 PM with THE M. M. T. PANDOLE PLATE, a Class IV handicap over 1,200 metres offering Rs.5,50,000 in prize money. Skandha will be sent out with T. S. Jodha riding, Baklava will be handled by Bharat Singh, Mriga will have Vivek G. aboard, New Yorker will be ridden by N. Bhosale, and Ashwa Almaty will run under A. S. Peter.
A stamina test will follow at 4:30 PM in THE W. BUCKLEY PLATE, another Class V handicap run over 2,000 metres for a total purse of Rs.5,00,000. Viking will carry Akshay Kumar, Maratha Admiral will be partnered by N. S. Parmar, Whisper will run with Yash Narredu aboard, Bright Button will be steered by Neeraj Rawal, and Baleno will be guided by Bhawani Singh.
Three-year-old maidens will again feature at 5:00 PM in THE BANGALORE TURF CLUB TROPHY, conducted over 1,400 metres with prize money of Rs.12,00,000. Enrich will run under Yash Narredu, Shaandaar will be handled by Vivek G., Cherubine will have Neeraj Rawal in control, Legadema will be piloted by A. Prakash, and Menorca will be partnered by Mustakim Alam.
The meeting will conclude at 5:30 PM with THE BYRAM N. JEEJEEBHOY TROPHY, a Class III handicap over 1,000 metres carrying prize money of Rs.6,50,000. Sir Baffert will run with R. Manish aboard, Sensational will be guided by S. J. Sunil, Foxy will be partnered by S. Siddharth, Storm Cloud will be ridden by Bharat Singh, and Azure will be steered by Mustakim Alam.
The Mumbai Race Cards 12 February will provide trainers with opportunities to assess developing runners while established performers will seek favourable conditions as the Mumbai season progresses toward its latter stages.
