The Philippine Jockey Club will stage a major Sunday of racing on February 1, as a competitive ten-race card unfolds from 2:00pm to 6:50pm under the banner of nationally backed championship events. With races conducted in association with PHILRACOM, JRA and PCSO, and highlighted by the Japan Cup and the Commissioner’s Cup series, the programme is set to combine institutional prestige with high-quality on-track competition.
The day will open at 2:00pm with Race 1, an RBHS Class 3 (57–70 Split) contest over 1400 metres. A field of 6 runners will compete for ₱300,000, setting the tempo for the afternoon.
At 2:40pm, Race 2, the 2026 PHILRACOM-PCSO “3YO Maiden Stakes”, will bring together five three-year-olds over 1400 metres, also for ₱300,000, reflecting the continued developmental focus supported by the sport’s governing bodies.
The first major highlight will arrive at 3:20pm with Race 3, the 2026 PHILRACOM “Japan Cup” (Group 3). Run over 1650 metres, the race will feature 13 runners competing for a significantly enhanced purse of ₱1,000,000. Backed by PHILRACOM and carrying international naming resonance, the Japan Cup is expected to play a central role in shaping the season’s middle-distance hierarchy.
The afternoon’s richest and most anticipated contest will follow at 4:00pm with Race 4, the 2026 PHILRACOM “Commissioner’s Cup I” (Group 2). Contested over 1650 metres and worth ₱2,000,000, the race will feature eight contenders in a clash of proven form and tactical strength.
The field brings together proven performers and rising challengers. Transform, ridden by JT Zarate and trained by Ernesto S. Roxas, will be joined by Parade King, partnered by JPA Guce for trainer Ruben S. Tupas. Don Julio, with AP Asuncion aboard for trainer Jesse B. Guce, adds further depth, while Bea Bell, ridden by JB Hernandez and trained by Donato S. Sordan, brings consistency into the mix.
Also lining up are Istulen Ola, partnered by JA Guce for Ruben S. Tupas, Jungkook, ridden by JM Estorque and trained by Raymundo E. Mongaya, Easy Does It, with NC Lunar for Peter L. Aguila, and High Dollar, partnered by PM Cabalejo for trainer Jayson N. Sordan. With PHILRACOM backing and top prize money on offer, Commissioner’s Cup I is expected to be the day’s defining contest.
Racing will resume at 4:30pm with Race 5, a 3YO & Above Maiden Race (Placers) over 1400 metres, featuring 6 runners competing for ₱300,000.
At 5:00pm, graded action returns with Race 6, the 2026 PHILRACOM “Commissioner’s Cup II” (Group 3). Run over 1650 metres, the race will feature 13 runners and offer ₱800,000, reinforcing the Commissioner’s Cup as a two-part championship series.
The closing phase of the card will be anchored by competitive RBHS handicaps. Race 7 at 5:20pm and Race 8 at 5:50 pm will both be RBHS Class 5 (17–41 Split) races over 1400 metres, with 8 and 9 runners respectively, each worth ₱300,000.
The programme will conclude with Race 9 at 6:20pm and Race 10 at 6:50pm, both RBHS Class 4 (42–56 Split) contests over 1400 metres, featuring 8 and 9 runners respectively, again carrying prize money of ₱300,000 each.
From the Japan Cup to the Commissioner’s Cup showdowns, with PHILRACOM and PCSO backing headline races, substantial prize money across the card, and a full spectrum of graded and handicap contests, Philippine Racecards 1 February are set to deliver a decisive and high-impact afternoon.
