Racing will commence at 2:30 PM and conclude at 5:30 PM, with the Mumbai Race Cards 31 January offering variety in class composition and distance across the afternoon.
The meeting will open with The Forest Flair Trophy, a Class V event for Indian horses rated 1 to 26, scheduled over 1000 metres. With total prize money of Rs. 5,00,000, the early sprint will include Jet Typhoon, Lickety Split, Arbitrage, She’s A Teaser, and Between Friends, presenting a compact field suited to sharp early pace.
At 3:00 PM, The Enigma Trophy will follow as a Class III contest for horses rated 40 to 66, run over 1600 metres. The race will carry a purse of Rs. 6,50,000 and will feature Bugatti, Matisse, Zafferano, Mansa Musa, and Tyrannus, with the mile distance expected to reward balance and sustained running.
The third race, The Dancing Prances Trophy, will be staged at 3:30 PM and will be restricted to maiden Indian horses aged three years only. Contested over 1000 metres for prize money of Rs. 12,00,000, the field will include Ghost of Victory, Lucky Diamond, Phantom Strike, Scorcher, and Gunfire, making it one of the more closely observed developmental races on the card.
A step up in distance will arrive at 4:00 PM with The Oyster Cove Trophy, a Class IV contest for Indian horses rated 20 to 46 over 2400 metres. With Rs. 5,50,000 on offer, Harrison, Little John, Brasilier, Diego Garcia, and Ekatarina will be required to demonstrate stamina and race management over the extended trip.
The highlight of the programme will be The Dr. S. C. Jain Sprinters’ Championship (Grade II) at 4:30 PM. Open to horses aged four years and above, the 1200-metres feature will carry prize money of Rs. 20,00,000 and will bring together Constable, Dream Seller, Shambala, Time And Tide, and Ataash in the most accomplished field of the afternoon.
At 5:00 PM, The Weizhou Trophy will return the card to Class V company, with Indian horses rated 1 to 26 set to compete over 1600 metres. The Rs. 5,00,000 race will include Algonquin, Hola Amigo, Magical Moments, Whisper, and Luna, offering a test of consistency at the mile distance.
The meeting will conclude at 5:30 PM with The Captain Courage Trophy, a Class IV sprint over 1200 metres for horses rated 20 to 46. Worth Rs. 5,50,000, the closing race will feature Baklava, Heaven’s Rhythm, Skandha, American Eagle, and Esteban, bringing the Mumbai programme to an orderly finish.
Overall, the Mumbai Race Cards 31 January will present a methodically arranged Saturday fixture, combining competitive handicaps with a strong sprinting feature and opportunities across multiple levels of competition.
