A steady rhythm defined the nine-race Thursday card at Bahrain Turf Club (BTC) on 29 January, as a sequence of cup races and feature events unfolded under evening conditions. The meeting opened at 5:30 pm with the Gulf Air Cup, where AL MA’ANAGY delivered a composed performance. The winner was ridden by Qais Al Busaidi, trained by Yousif Taher, and raced in the colours of Victorious Forever. The contest was completed in a winning time of 1:23.023, setting a solid benchmark for the evening.
At 6:00 pm, the Lexus Cup went to HATTAAB, partnered by Lewis Edmunds. Trained by Abdulla Kuwaiti and owned by H.H. Sh Salman bin Khalid bin Ali Al-Khalifa, the runner controlled the race well and recorded a winning time of 2:21.323.
Race 3 at 6:30 pm featured the Investcorp Cup, which was claimed by NEPAL under Rosie Jessop. The George Scott-trained runner, owned by JPS & Sarah Harrison-Lamb, stayed on strongly to secure victory in a time of 2:30.649.
The Grand Seiko – Bahrain Jewellery Centre Cup was contested at 7:00 pm and was won by RASHASH. Marcialis Jaures took the ride for trainer Ahmed Al Sadah and owner Al Jasmi Stable. The race was decided cleanly, although no official winning time was recorded.
The Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cup followed at 7:30 pm, where ALMONAADY emerged on top. Ridden by Ebrahim Nader and trained by Osama Hashim for AlSameea Racing, the winner completed the race in 1:35.899 after maintaining a consistent rhythm throughout.
One of the evening’s principal events, the Bahrain Oaks sponsored by Al Muzdaher Stud, was run at 8:00 pm and was secured by WANISA. Benoit De La Sayette partnered the Haider Ebrahim-trained filly for owner Mohammed Khalid Abdulrahim, with the winner stopping the clock at 1:52.763.
At 8:40 pm, the Anchorman Cup sponsored by Howden produced another notable performance from DAIN MA NUT IN. Lewis Edmunds completed a double on the card, riding the Lucinda Russell and M. Scudamore-trained runner for Lamont Racing. The winning time for the race was 2:02.274.
The Hawar Cup at 9:20 pm was won by UP THE PACE, ridden by Tom Marquand. Trained by Daniel and Claire Kubler and owned by Al Adiyat Racing, the race was run at a brisk tempo, with the winner recording a time of 1:12.525.
The programme concluded at 9:50 pm where THE GHOST SHIP delivered a fitting close to the evening. Sandro Paiva rode the winner for trainer Jaffar Marzooq and owner Ahmed Khalil Ali Khalil. The concluding race was completed in a time of 1:02.252.
