A full afternoon of National Hunt racing will take place at Chepstow Racecourse on Tuesday, 27 January, with a seven-race programme scheduled from 1:00pm through to 4:22pm. The card will feature a blend of novice contests, handicaps, a novice steeple chase, a mares’ event, and a concluding bumper, providing a varied examination across hurdles and fences.
The Chepstow Race Cards 27 January will open at 1:00pm with a Novices’ Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) run over 2m 3f 149y. Sixteen runners will be set to compete for prize money of £6,150. Luwdvig, Monsieur Jaco, Good For You, and Gower Spirit will be among those declared for a competitive opener that is likely to place early emphasis on accurate jumping and race positioning around the Chepstow circuit.
At 1:30pm, the programme will continue with a Juvenile Hurdle (Class 4) over 2m 65y. Seven runners will be scheduled to line up for prize money of £10,000, including Berkshire Smudge, Brave Guest, Jedhi Knight, and Misterdoc. The race will offer a useful guide to the current level of developing juvenile hurdlers and may highlight those capable of progressing through the ranks.
The principal hurdle contest on the card will be staged at 2:02pm with a Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) over 2m 3f 149y. Twelve runners will be due to compete for £10,700, with West To The Bridge, Pyramid Place, Bingoo, and French Emperor among those set to take part. The race will bring together established handicap performers and runners still open to further progress at this level.
Attention will switch to fences at 2:37pm for a Novices’ Steeple Chase (Class 3) over 2m 65y. Five runners will be declared for prize money of £15,000, including Juby Ball, Palacio, Dj Pete, and Storming Nelson. With a smaller field assembled, the contest may provide early indications of future chasing potential among lightly raced runners.
At 3:12pm, the mares will take centre stage in a Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle (Class 4) over 2m 65y. Eleven runners will be set to contest prize money of £10,000, with Charisma Cat, Clondaw Park, Cue Jump, and Daring To Dream among those expected to line up in a race designed to showcase emerging talent within the division.
Stamina will be tested at 3:47pm in a Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 4) run over 2m 7f 212y. Seventeen runners will be scheduled to compete for £8,900, including Supervisor, Bells of Peterboro, Genietoile, and Bali Body, in what is likely to prove one of the most demanding races of the afternoon.
The meeting will conclude at 4:22pm with a National Hunt Flat Race (Class 4) over 2m 65y. Eleven runners will be due to line up for prize money of £7,200, with Barrow Hill Lad, Big John Ollie, Justalargewhisky, and Keltype among those aiming to make a positive first appearance under Rules.
