The Southwell Racecourse will set out a full nine-race programme on Thursday, with racing scheduled to run from early afternoon through to the evening on the Tapeta surface. The meeting will largely feature Class 5 and Class 6 contests, offering a balanced mix of sprint handicaps, middle-distance races, and a concluding maiden.
The card will begin at 1:05pm and will conclude at 5:40pm, with prize money distributed evenly across the programme and competitive field sizes throughout.
The afternoon will open at 1:05pm with the APPRENTICE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6), run over 4f 214y for a prize fund of £6,000. Eight runners are set to go to post, including Sam’s Hope, Honour Your Dreams, and Thecoffeepoddotco, in a sharp sprint that will demand early pace and accuracy from the stalls.
Two divisions of the HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) over 7f 14y will follow at 1:40pm and 2:15pm, each worth £9,000. The DIVISION I will feature ten runners, headed by Dream Illusion, Habrdi, and Sanditon. The DIVISION II will include nine runners, with Rusheen Boy, Simply Blue, and Bomb Squad among those expected to line up.
At 2:50pm, the DIVISION I of the CLASSIFIED STAKES (CLASS 6) will be contested over 7f 14y for £9,000. American Rose, Autumn Angel, and Bella Love are among the nine runners declared. The DIVISION II at 3:25pm, also worth £9,000, will feature eight runners, including Anificas Beauty, Barney’s Bay, and Captain Pickles.
The longest race on the card will arrive at 4:00pm with the HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) over 1m 6f 21y. Nine runners will compete for £7,100, with Nunc Est Bibendum, Geordie Mackem, and Simiyann set to test their stamina in the closing stages.
A HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) over 1m 3f 23y at 4:35pm will bring together twelve runners for a prize of £6,000. Silkies Sib, Alfred Spero, and Abu Royal are among those engaged in what is expected to be a closely matched contest.
The penultimate race at 5:10pm will be the MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 4), run over 6f 16y for £10,000. Twelve runners are set to take part, including Hammal, Highfield Jewel, and Elashgar, as several lightly raced types aim to make their breakthrough.
The meeting will conclude at 5:40pm with a final HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) over 6f 16y. Twelve runners will compete for £6,000, with Albert Cee, Reddeef, and Pure Artistry among those expected to bring the curtain down on the day’s racing.
