Race Number 2 on the card at the Calcutta Races, Winter Meeting – Second Day, Friday, 9th January 2026, produced a competitive finish as Divine Gift claimed top honours in THE ACRIDER HANDICAP, a Class V contest for horses rated 1–26 over 1600 metres, run at 1:30 PM. In what added another notable chapter to the Kolkata race result 9 January narrative, Divine Gift (J: Antony Raj S.) justified strong support with a composed and well-timed performance, stopping the clock at 1:41.346 for trainer Vijay Singh, racing in the colours of Ms. Rapar’s Galloping Stars LLP.
Settled into a handy position early, Divine Gift travelled smoothly through the first half of the mile as the field remained tightly packed. Turning for home, Antony Raj S. asked the gelding to quicken, and the response was immediate. Showing a telling turn of foot inside the final furlong, Divine Gift asserted decisively, holding his line under pressure to seal a clear-cut victory.
Righteous finished a determined second, with Mukesh Kumar in the saddle for trainer Arti Doctor, clocking 1:41.972 after chasing the winner throughout the straight. Carnation, ridden by Vishal N. Bunde and trained by Neil Darashah, stayed on gamely to secure third place in 1:42.207, rounding off a closely fought podium.
