Race number two on the card, The Topspin Plate, brought early spark to the Mumbai Meeting 2025/26 – Special Race Day on Sunday, 28 December, as Elevate delivered a polished winning performance in the Terms race for maiden Indian two-year-olds over 1000 metres, run at 2:00 PM.
In a result that added substance to the Mumbai race result 28 December, Elevate (J: Yash Narredu, T: Deepesh Narredu) showed maturity beyond his age to stop the clock at 0:58:989, scoring decisively for an extensive ownership group led by Mr Niraj Tyagi and Mr Vikas Sachdeva rep Blazing Saddles (PF) alongside Mrs Rashmee A Amersey rep So Blest Trading Co Pvt Ltd, Mr Aftab Singh & Mr Mehtab Singh rep Sohna Stud Farm Pvt Ltd, Mr Hatim A Lakdawala, Mr Aditya Apte, Mr Deepesh M Narredu, Mrs Vidita H Kale and Mr Jehangir Mehta.
From the break, Elevate was quickly into stride, travelling smoothly under a confident ride as the field sorted itself out behind him. Yash Narredu allowed the youngster to find his rhythm before asking him to quicken inside the final furlong, and the response was immediate. Elevate stretched clear with authority, maintaining a straight course and never looking in danger once he hit top gear.
Spectra (J: A. Sandesh, T: Aman Altaf Hussain) ran on gamely to secure second, keeping the winner in sight without quite threatening in the closing stages. Tempo (J: R. Ajinkya, T: P. S. Chouhan) stayed on resolutely to claim third, rounding out the placings in a competitive juvenile contest.
With the Topspin Plate settled and early narratives taking shape, attention now turns to the Karl Umrigar Salver, scheduled for 2:30 PM, as the Mumbai afternoon builds toward its feature moments.
