The spotlight fell on Race 4 – The Unknown Warrior Cup, a Class II contest (rated 61–86; 41–66 eligible) over 1200 metres, run at 2:30 PM on Friday, 26 December 2025, during the Calcutta Races Christmas Meeting. Delivering one of the day’s decisive performances, Abhicandra stamped his class to land the sprint in 1:12.500, providing a key highlight in the Calcutta race result 26 December narrative. Ridden with confidence by A. Prakash and trained by Shyam S. Habbu, the winner carried the colours of Mr Vikram Bachhawat (rep. M/s Bachhawat Farms Pvt Ltd) with distinction.
Breaking alertly and settling into a smooth rhythm, Abhicandra was always travelling strongly through the early exchanges. Prakash judged the fractions to perfection, allowing the colt to conserve energy before asking him to lengthen approaching the final furlong. Once set down, Abhicandra responded gamely, asserting clear control and drawing away in the closing stages to seal a convincing victory.
Morano put in a solid effort to claim second place under R. Vaibhav, trained by Aashay Doctor, staying on resolutely behind the winner. Superlative, partnered by Gaurav Singh for trainer Shafiq Khan, finished third after keeping on honestly through the latter part of the race. While times for the placed runners were not officially recorded, the finishing order underlined Abhicandra’s superiority on the day.
With Race 4 concluded in emphatic fashion, attention now turns to the next event on the card, The Army Cup, scheduled for 3:00 PM, as the Calcutta Christmas Meeting continues to build toward its marquee moments.
