In an electrifying display of juvenile brilliance, Race 2 of the Calcutta Races Christmas Meeting, The Star Team Plate, saw Monumental (J: Suraj Narredu, T: Satish Narredu) seize a decisive win over 1100 metres for two-year-old horses on Friday, 26th December 2025 at 01:30 PM. Racing in the distinguished colours of Dr Ram H Shroff & Mr Raj H Shroff rep M/s Stride Livestock Pvt Ltd, Mr Chetan Shantilal Shah, M/s Citoc Ventures Pvt Ltd, Mr Anil Saraf & Mr Balam Mohla, Monumental stopped the clock at 1:06.587 in a performance that thrilled the stands and thrilled punters following the Calcutta race result 26 December.
From the break, Monumental showed early intent, settling prominently in mid-division before unleashing a powerful burst in the final 200 metres. Guided expertly by jockey Suraj Narredu, the youngster timed his run perfectly, sweeping past the leaders with a smooth, authoritative stride to claim victory convincingly. The pair’s synergy with trainer Satish Narredu’s preparation was evident as Monumental maintained a relentless gallop to the wire.
Runner-up honours went to Saiko (J: A Prakash, T: Vijay Singh), who kept Monumental in check throughout the stretch but ultimately crossed in 1:07.021. In third, Rambha (J: Mukesh Kumar, T: Aashay Doctor) closed strongly for 1:07.451, rounding out an exciting top three that delighted the crowd.
With Race 2 concluded, attention now shifts to The Gen A S Vaidya Memorial Cup, set to run at 02:00 PM, promising another thrilling chapter in the festive fourth day of racing at Calcutta.
