The curtains came down on the day’s action at the Calcutta Races, Christmas Meeting, as Godsend Divine produced a determined performance to land Race No. 6, The Tiger Tops Handicap, a Class V contest for horses rated 1–26, run over 1400 metres on Saturday, 20th December, 2025, at 4:00 PM. In what rounded off the Calcutta race results 20 December on a competitive note, Godsend Divine (J: Mukesh Kumar) delivered a well-judged effort for trainer Rutherford Alford, stopping the clock at 1:27.934.
Racing in the colours of Mrs G Alford, Mr Benny Selwyn, Mr Devesh Poddar, Mr Dinesh Choumal, Mr Kevin Joseph Manuel, Mr Pawan Choumal, Mr Peeyush Choumal and Mr Rutherford Alford, the winner showed grit and resolve when it mattered most.
Positioned handily through the early exchanges, Godsend Divine travelled smoothly as the pace unfolded. Turning for home, Mukesh Kumar asked his mount to lengthen, and the response was immediate. The filly quickened smartly inside the final furlong, asserting clear authority late to settle matters decisively and provide a fitting finale to the day.
Simran’s Attitude (J: Hindu Singh, T: Vikash Jaiswal) stayed on gamely to finish second in 1:28.512, while Pyrgos (J: A Prakash, T: Aashay Doctor) was close up in third, clocking 1:28.618, as the principals crossed the line in tight succession.
Earlier in the afternoon, the action began with Oishika (J: A Prakash, T: Shyam S Habbu) striking in Race 1, The INS Hooghly Cup over 1200 metres, finishing ahead of Contessina and Lavish Girl. Victorious Omen then justified support in Race 2, The Navy Cup over 1600 metres, with A Prakash guiding the S Waheed-trained runner home from Vivaldi and True Faith. Stamina came to the fore in Race 3, The Misty Melody Handicap, where Ksepiman (J: Mukesh Kumar, T: Rutherford Alford) stayed on strongly over 2400 metres, while Garth and Multi Success filled the places.
The long-distance theme continued in Race 4, The Statue of Liberty Handicap, as Gold Empire (J: Suraj Narredu, T: Rajesh Narredu) prevailed from Zarak and Golden Warrior. The afternoon’s spotlight then firmly rested on the feature event, the Usha Stud Calcutta Oaks (Grade III) in Race 5, where Heart (J: Suraj Narredu, T: Deepesh Narredu) claimed top honours over 2400 metres, ahead of Eleanora and Xanthe.
With the final result declared and the sun setting on the track, the third day of the Christmas Meeting drew to a close, leaving racegoers reflecting on a competitive card and looking ahead to the marquee contests still to come this season at Calcutta.
