The Calcutta race result 20 December added another decisive chapter on Saturday afternoon when Race No. 2, The Navy Cup, a Class III contest for horses rated 41–66 and 21–46, was run over 1600 metres at 02:00 PM during the Christmas Meeting’s third day at Calcutta Race Course. Victorious Omen delivered a composed and resolute performance to score for jockey A. Prakash and trainer S. Waheed, stopping the clock at 1:38.078.
The winner carried the colours of an extensive ownership group comprising Mr Chirag V Shah, Mr Amit V Menda, Mr Ketan S Wakkar, Mr Rajiv Tinaikar, Mrs Minal Pitale, Mr Suresh Pitale, Mr Nihar Pitale rep M/s Green Turf Racing LLP, Mr Amarjeet Singh Narula, Mr Anil V Poduval and Mr Kapil Bahl.
Settled comfortably through the early stages, Victorious Omen travelled with purpose as the field negotiated the mile. A. Prakash timed his move with precision, asking the filly to quicken rounding the bend before asserting in the straight. Once balanced, Victorious Omen showed determination under pressure, finding enough in the final furlong to hold sway and seal the verdict with authority.
Vivaldi chased the winner home bravely to finish second, clocking 1:38.505 for jockey Hindu Singh and trainer Vijay Singh, staying on gamely after being in contention throughout. True Faith, partnered by P. Tejeshwar and trained by Vikash Jaiswal, ran on steadily to secure third in 1:39.480, completing the frame in a closely fought affair.
