The fifth race on Thursday’s Calcutta Races – Christmas Meeting Extra Day delivered a tight and thrilling finish as Anigraha landed The Miss X O Lence Handicap, a Class III contest for horses rated 41–66 (21–46 eligible), over 1400 metres at 3:30 PM on 18 December 2025. In what added another highlight to the Calcutta race result 18 December, Anigraha, partnered by Hindu Singh, produced a polished performance for trainer Vijay Singh, clocking 1:25.666. The winner carried the colours of Bachhawat Farms Pvt Ltd, represented by Mr Vikram Bachhawat, and showed grit under pressure to prevail in a closely fought handicap.
Settled prominently through the early stages, Anigraha travelled smoothly as the field stacked up turning for home. Hindu Singh waited for the right moment before asking his mount to quicken, and the response was immediate. Despite sustained pressure in the final furlong, Anigraha held his line and dug deep to secure the verdict by the narrowest of margins.
This Is Gold ran a brave race in second, with Suraj Narredu in the saddle for trainer Deepesh Narredu, stopping the clock at 1:25.729 after challenging strongly late. Impressive Annie, guided by R S Bhati and trained by Aashay Doctor, finished a close third in 1:25.930, ensuring the top three were separated by less than half a second.
With Race 5 decided in such dramatic fashion, attention now turns to the next event on the card, The Spats Colombo Handicap, scheduled to go off at 4:00 PM, as the Christmas Meeting continues to build momentum at Calcutta.
