The 3rd race of the Calcutta Races, Autumn Meeting, on Sunday, 16th November 2025, saw Class III horses rated 41-66 (rated 21-46 eligible) compete over 2000 metres at 2:00 PM in a thrilling contest, The Arabian Prince Handicap. Zarak(J: Imran Chisty, T: S Waheed) delivered a commanding performance, stopping the clock at 2:07.555 to claim victory for owners Mr Ketan S Wakkar, Mr Kishore C Punjabi, Mr Anil V Poduval, Mr Rajiv Tinaikar, Mrs Minal Pitale, Mr Suresh Pitale & Mr Nihar Pitale rep Green Turf Racing LLP, and Mr S Waheed.
From the start, Zarak settled well behind the early leaders, conserving energy before launching a decisive run approaching the final 400 metres. Guided expertly by Imran Chisty, he surged past the front-runners with a perfectly timed burst, demonstrating both stamina and tactical speed to cross the finish line with authority. The gelding’s poise and acceleration in the final stretch made the victory look effortless.
Goodwill (J: Vishal N Bunde, T: Neil Darashah) finished a strong second in 2:08.916, staying close to the winner but unable to match Zarak’s late charge. Champagnesupernova (J: P. Trevor, T: Aashay Doctor) claimed third in 2:08.923, rounding out a tightly contested top three.
Attention now turns to the 4th race of the day, The Ocean and Beyond Handicap, scheduled for 2:30 PM, promising another exciting contest for Calcutta racing fans.
