The racing world will soon bid farewell — or perhaps simply “see you later” — to one of its most captivating mares, Coeur Volante, as the triple Group winner heads to the Inglis Digital Spring Boutique Sale next week. Known for her dazzling early career and unmistakable flair on the track, the five-year-old daughter of Proisir will be offered as both a racing and breeding prospect, opening a new chapter in a career that’s been rich in promise and performance.
From the moment she burst onto the scene, Coeur Volante displayed the kind of natural brilliance that commands attention. She won three of her first four starts — including the G3 Scarborough Stakes and the G2 Thousand Guineas Prelude — the latter victory coming despite a 2kg penalty and a wide draw at Caulfield, where she swept past a quality field with ease.
Her most recent triumph came in the G3 Mannerism Stakes, once again at Caulfield, where she stormed home by four lengths over proven performers such as Quintessa, Grinzinger Belle, and Semana.
Lightly Raced but High-Class
Despite her five years, Coeur Volante’s race record remains fresh — just 16 starts, with four victories, nearly all at Stakes level. That kind of profile makes her an enticing proposition for both racing stables and breeders seeking speed and class in equal measure.
The mare has spent nearly her entire racing life among elite company, contesting three Group 1 races and always holding her own. Her tactical speed and sharp turn of foot have earned her a loyal following, and now, that same combination makes her an attractive addition to the Inglis Digital sale ring.
“An Incredibly Exciting Race Mare”
Inglis’ Victorian Bloodstock Manager James Price was full of admiration for the mare’s qualities, describing her as “an incredibly exciting race mare”.
“During the spring of her three-year-old season, she was electric,” Price said. “Even when the mile at Caulfield didn’t suit her in the G1 Thousand Guineas, she still ran fourth behind Joliestar, Kimochi, and Skybird — some of the best fillies in training at the time.”
He added, “Her win in the G3 Mannerism earlier this year showed her tactical brilliance and devastating turn of foot. I’ve no doubt she’s got Group 1 ability, so whether she’s bred this season or continues racing into the autumn, she’s a very appealing prospect.”
