The action-packed fourth day of the Calcutta Races, Autumn Meeting, witnessed a sparkling performance in the 2nd Race – THE CAPTAIN MORGAN HANDICAP, a Class IV contest for horses rated 21-46 (rated 1-26 eligible) over 1100 meters on Friday, 7th November 2025 at 02:15 PM. Enola Holmes, racing in the colours of Ms Manjri Horse Breeders’ Farm Pvt Ltd, produced an authoritative display of speed and precision to cross the finish line in 1:06.763, claiming a decisive victory.
From the start, Enola Holmes settled beautifully off the pace, biding time behind the early leaders before unleashing a potent turn of foot in the final 200 meters. Jockey Abhishek Mhatre timed the move perfectly, guiding the filly past the front-runners with composure and ensuring a clean passage to the post. Trainer Neil Darashah’s meticulous preparation was evident as Enola Holmes accelerated smoothly, leaving the chasing pack struggling to respond.
Italian Gold (J: Imran Chisty, T: Rutherford Alford) finished strongly to take second in 1:07.574, maintaining pressure on the winner throughout the home stretch. Marcolini (J: Yash Narredu, T: B Mahesh) rounded out the podium in 1:07.802, closing late but unable to catch the top two.
With the excitement of the Captain Morgan Handicap behind, attention now turns to the THE TANGAROA HANDICAP, set for 02:45 PM, promising another compelling test of speed and tactics at the Autumn Meeting.
