The Calcutta Races, Autumn Meeting (Third Day) got underway in fine style on Thursday, 6th November 2025, with the 1st Race – The Loch Clieveden Handicap (Class V | Horses Rated 1–26 | 1400m) setting the tone for the afternoon. In a well-judged ride, Jimmy Bee (J: Nikhil Naidu, T: Sabeel Shariff) surged through powerfully in the closing stages to secure victory for owner Mr. Shanmugam Yuvraj, stopping the clock at 1:29.420 and giving the Shariff yard an ideal start to the day.

The race unfolded with a brisk early pace as contenders vied for position down the backstretch. Jimmy Bee, biding his time behind the front-runners, was switched wide entering the straight and responded impressively when asked for an effort. Displaying both maturity and turn of foot, the gelding stretched clear in the final 100 metres, confirming his readiness for tougher company.

Hermod (J: Antony Raj S., T: Rutherford Alford) battled gamely to finish second in 1:29.713, keeping the winner honest till the line. Amalfitana (J: R. S. Bhati, T: B. Rajender Reddy) stayed on steadily to claim third in 1:29.941, rounding off a competitive opener to the Calcutta card.

With The Loch Clieveden Handicap concluded, attention now turns to the next contest — The Aloritz Cup at 1:45 PM, promising more action from the heart of the Calcutta Autumn Meeting.
