The eleventh day of the Pune Meeting 2025 at the Royal Western India Turf Club came alive with the much-anticipated The General Rajendrasinhji Million (Race 5), a terms race for three-year-old horses run over 1600 metres at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, 2nd November 2025. In a polished and perfectly-timed run, Giacomo (J: A. Sandesh, T: Dallas Todywalla) stormed home to claim victory in 1:37:945, delivering another proud moment for the distinguished Poonawalla Racing & Breeding Pvt Ltd ownership syndicate — represented by Mr Zavaray S. Poonawalla, Mrs Behroze Z. Poonawalla, Mr Yohan Z. Poonawalla, Mrs Michelle Y. Poonawalla, Ms Delna Z. Poonawalla, Mrs Simone Poonawalla Pandole & Mr Rishad N. Pandole.
Ridden with confidence by A. Sandesh, Giacomo settled smoothly through the early strides before quickening impressively at the top of the straight. As the field turned for home, Sandesh timed his move to perfection, urging Giacomo into a commanding lead that went unchallenged in the final furlong. The colt’s maturity and balance on the turf underlined both class and potential, rewarding trainer Dallas Todywalla with yet another high-profile success this season.
The runner-up honours went to Tyrannus (J: Suraj Narredu, T: Imtiaz A. Sait), who finished strongly in 1:38:307 after tracking the leader throughout. Rosario (J: Vivek G., T: P. Shroff) followed narrowly in third place, clocking 1:38:339 in a close finish that reflected the competitive depth of the race.
