The racing afternoon at Pune Racecourse gained momentum with Race 4 – The Pune Cantonment Board Trophy (Div II), a Class IV contest for Indian horses rated 20 to 46 (0 to 19 eligible), run over 1200 metres at 2:30 PM on Sunday, 2nd November 2025, during the Pune Meeting 2025 (Eleventh Day) at the Royal Western India Turf Club. In an impressive display of early speed and control, Believe (Jockey: K. Pranil) produced a confident performance to secure victory for trainer S. Waheed, stopping the clock at 1:09:232. The win came in the silks of owner Mr. Ketan S. Wakkar, marking a memorable success on the day’s undercard.
Breaking alertly from the gates, Believe maintained a strong rhythm along the rails and dictated the pace from the outset. Turning for home with a narrow advantage, the Waheed-trained runner showed determination in the final furlong to fend off late challenges and keep the race firmly under control. The gelding’s acceleration over the final 100 metres ensured that the competition never got close enough to threaten his lead.
Majestic Warrior (Jockey: Avinash Paswan, Trainer: Narendra Lagad) tried gamely to bridge the gap but had to settle for second with a time of 1:09:636, while Flashman (Jockey: A. Omkar, Trainer: Bezan Chenoy) finished third, clocking 1:09:791 after a determined finish down the outer rail. The trio pulled clear of the remainder in a closely run sprint that showcased the competitiveness of the division.
With Believe’s decisive victory setting the tone, attention now shifts to the later events of the afternoon, including the much-awaited B Prakash Salver, expected to feature several in-form sprinters vying for top honours at Pune.
