The second race of the Pune Meeting 2025 (Eleventh Day)—The Delhi Race Club Trophy, a Class I contest for horses rated 80 and upward (60 to 79 eligible)—unfolded over 1200 metres on Sunday, 2nd November 2025, at the Royal Western India Turf Club. The spotlight belonged to Ataash, piloted confidently by jockey A. Omkar and trained by Nazzak B. Chenoy, who delivered a polished and professional performance to seize the win in 1:08:009. Racing in the colours of Mrs Bakhtawar B. Chenoy, Miss Nazzak B. Chenoy, Ms Ameeta Mehra (rep. Mehra Stud And Agricultural Farms Pvt Ltd) & Mr Govind Gandhi, Ataash showcased class and composure throughout.
Breaking smartly from the gates, Ataash settled in a stalking position behind the early leaders before making a decisive move at the top of the straight. Under a perfectly timed ride from A. Omkar, the gelding accelerated smoothly in the final 200 metres, stretching out powerfully to assert dominance over a high-quality field. The victory reflected not only Ataash’s raw speed but also the fine training touch of Nazzak B. Chenoy, whose careful conditioning ensured the horse peaked at the right moment.
Credence (J: Ramswarup, T: Shazaan Shah) ran a gallant second in 1:08:098, staying close to the winner but unable to bridge the narrow gap at the finish. Irish Gold (J: A. Sandesh, T: Dallas Todywalla) followed closely behind, clocking 1:08:696 to claim third place, rounding out a fiercely competitive top three where fractions made the difference.
As the cheers faded from The Delhi Race Club Trophy, anticipation turned toward the upcoming Pune Cantonment Board Trophy, the afternoon’s next highlight promising another thrilling clash among the city’s top sprinters.
