The opening afternoon of the Bangalore Winter Meeting 2025 came alive with the 4th race of the day — The Belgaum Plate, a Class II contest for horses rated 60 to 85, run over 1200 metres at 3:30 PM on Saturday, November 1. Showing both class and composure, Excellent Lass, ridden by jockey Suraj Narredu and trained by Rajesh Narredu, produced a sharp late surge to seal a memorable victory. The talented filly, racing in the silks of Mr Daulat Chhabria, Mr Ashok Ranpise, Mr Teja Gollapudi and M/s Rapar Galloping Stars LLP (rep. Mr Rajendran), stopped the clock at 1:11.44, marking another polished performance from the Narredu stable.
Breaking smartly from the gates, Excellent Lass tracked the early leaders with measured restraint. Suraj Narredu kept her perfectly poised just off the pace, waiting for the right moment to strike. Turning for home, the filly quickened decisively on the inside rails, producing an assertive burst in the final furlong to pull clear and secure a well-judged win. Her turn of foot in the closing stages underscored her readiness for higher company as the Bangalore season unfolds.
Regal Reality (J: Vivek G., T: S.S. Attaollahi) stayed on gamely to claim the runner-up spot, finishing in 1:11.69, just a neck behind the winner after mounting a late challenge that came a stride too late. Stablemate Stellantis (J: Shreyas Singh S., T: S.S. Attaollahi) took third in 1:11.89, rounding off a close finish among the top contenders.
With the day heating up and momentum building, attention now shifts to the feature event — The Rajyotsava Trophy, scheduled for 4:00 PM, promising a thrilling climax to the Bangalore Winter Meeting’s opening day.
