The Bangalore Winter Meeting 2025 continued to sparkle on its opening day as Sunshine (J: Pavan), trained by Irfan Ghatala, stormed home to claim the third race of the afternoon — The Kudremukh Plate. Run over 1400 metres for Class IV horses rated 20 to 45, the 3:00 PM contest saw the filly unleash a powerful turn of foot to stop the clock at 1:24.57, sealing a well-judged win for owners Mr. Saleem A. Jasdanwalla, Mr. Deepak S. Suryavanshi, and Ms. Ameeta Mehra.
The race unfolded at a steady pace, with early leaders setting up a genuine gallop before Sunshine settled comfortably in mid-pack under Pavan’s patient guidance. Turning for home, the Ghatala-trained filly switched gears with precision, slicing through the field before surging clear in the final 100 metres. Her fluent action and strong finish left no doubt about the authority of the performance, marking her as one to watch this winter season at Bangalore Turf Club.
Final Call (J: Antony Raj S., T: K. Purshotham) fought bravely to finish second, timing 1:25.18, while Larissa (J: Vivek G., T: S. S. Attaollahi) stayed on to take third in 1:25.77. The top trio showcased admirable consistency, but Sunshine’s finishing burst proved decisive.
With The Kudremukh Plate concluded, anticipation now turns to the next contest — The Belgaum Plate at 3:30 PM, as the afternoon’s racing tempo continues to build towards the day’s main feature at the Bangalore Turf Club.
