The 2025 Bangalore Winter Meeting opened with excitement and energy on Saturday, November 1, as the first race of the season — The Inauguration Plate (Class V: Horses Rated 00 to 25, 1400m) — set the perfect tone for the afternoon. Feeling Good, ridden with poise by jockey Aleemuddin and trained by V. Lokanath, delivered a confident start-to-finish performance to claim top honours in 1:26.72, much to the delight of owners Mr H. K. Lakshman Gowda and Mr Rakesh Kumar.
Breaking cleanly from the gates, Feeling Good quickly took control of the race and maintained a steady rhythm throughout. As the field turned for home, the Lokanath-trained runner displayed both composure and determination, responding smartly to Aleemuddin’s urging in the final furlong to keep challengers at bay. The colt’s smooth acceleration and steady stride left no doubt about his readiness for the new season.
Honeypot (J: Vivek, T: V. Narayana Gowda) made a strong late bid but had to settle for second, clocking 1:27.89, while Southern Aristocrat (J: Hindu Singh, T: Kishan Thomas K.) finished a close third in 1:28.07, completing a competitive trifecta that hinted at a promising season ahead.
With the curtain-raiser concluded, all eyes now turn to the Kentucky Plate at 2:30 PM, as the Bangalore Turf Club’s Winter Meeting continues to unfold with a lineup of thrilling contests.
